Just thought I would point this out before it disappears. I doubt this was an accident. "All's Wells? With Bonzi and Rockets, we shall see" Yahoo NBA
As far as I'm concerned, Steve Kerr is equivalent to Charlie Rosen, i.e. a Rockets/Yao Ming hater the day he racistly labelled Yao Ming a Chinaman.
That was an error he apologized for immediately after the game. The context in which he used the word wasn't denegrating. He said he didn't know that was a racial slur and I believe him. He may be a douche, but he's not a racist.
steve kerr is afraid of the rockets.always has been. afraid we would have taken his championships away. because we would have!
Well, in alot other instances, he kept d@ssing and bashing Yao Ming. Did you remember he even said Chris Kaman is as good as Yao Ming, and that it should not be too far off if Chris Kaman is ranked as 2nd best NBA centre after Shaquille O'Neal?? He is a certified YOH. Believe me.
I am not labelling Steve Kerr a racist. I'm only saying I'm equating him with Charlie Rosen as a YOH/Rockets hater the day he used that racist slur "Chinaman", even though he publicly apologized afterwards, saying he was innocent as he was not aware of the sensitivity/negativity associated with that word.
Did Charlie Rosen really say Chinaman? And then apologize for not knowing that was offensvie? What is his job? How can he not know???? His is a racist and I am offended. Where is the ACLU when you need them? What race is he? And did he EVER eat his words about Yao not very good center? I guess a tall chinese player taking it the the NBA was simply not possible. I wonder does he go the the local chapter?
Don't waste another brain minute on Steve, remember he played for the Spurs so obviously he'll find ways to diss the Rockets. Just like Mark Stein of the Mavericks,, never, ever forget the history of these news reporters!
I really didn't know "chinaman" was an offensive word myself. Isn't it the equivelant of saying "americanman" and americans being offended?
Yeah, to be fair, it is not immediately racist sounding. Heck, I'm Chinese and I still would give people free passes on this one if they sound like they truly didn't know this was offensive. Law professor David Bernstein explains: I'm no scholar, but I think "chinaman" is considered offensive beacuse of the era that term is associated with. When Chinese people were indentured railroad workers in the US, they were often referred to as "Chinaman" or "Orientals." At that time, Chinese people were treated like peons and subjected to many second-class citizen treatment. If they used to call Chinese people "Chinese guy" back then, I think "Chinese guy" would be considered racist today. But, sadly enough I'm not as well-versed in my own people's history in the US as I'm sure other Cltuchfan members are. I'll leave it up to them for a better explanation.
