If that flopping piece of human garbage ever became a Rocket I would cease being a fan.

You're telling me that Donnie Walsh wouldn't do a Harrington/Hughes for McGrady/Cook trade right this second??? D'Antoni doesn't even want either of those guys in his rotation anymore! It only costs the Knicks money, something of which they have plenty.

That trade (for as "unspectacular" as it is) gets the Rockets below the tax and saves Les Alexander about $10-11M this year. Plus, Harrington and Hughes are still pretty decent players who at least have a pulse on offense.

As a last resort, that deal makes a ton of sense.

Will you still be throwing up when Les spends $3M of those savings to buy another first round pick??? ;)

no need to buy one if you trade for talent. ;)

In al seriousness though, we really can't wait 2 years to get "there" with prospects. Landry and AB will be getting to the big money contract stages and Yao will be heading to semi retirement.

I'm sure T-mac is laughing at us right now and I wouldn't blame him.

T-Mac is always laughing so that's no surprise.

He often used to laugh and joke around with opposing players when we were getting blown out in games.

It's always been about "me" over "we" with that guy.

Trading T-Mac to the Knicks for payroll/tax relief would have the following additional consequences:

--Saves Les Alexander $10-11M this year
--Allows the team to more easily re-sign Scola and Lowry
--Allows Les to throw extra cash into trades
--Allows Les to buy draft picks
--Frees up room to sign a free agent to a full MLE deal
--Frees up room to also sign a free agent to the LLE
--Makes paying the luxury tax next year more palatable if something presents itself this summer/before February 2011

    That's not "nothing".

Oh, yeah. Some or all of that $7-8M in cap room can still be used in trades this summer (assuming that Scola or Lowry aren't being re-signed).

    ^^^^

    I know bro.

It's just a little disheartening that we might not even be able to get a young player out of this DISASTER of a player handling.

Fiscal reasons are great but give the impression of not wanting to do everything to WIN. that's just the way people will see it.

All the promises of the most valuable expiring contract

talk about blowing up in your face

Nothing has blown up in their faces. You're just getting impatient and jumping to conclusions. At least wait until after the trade deadline before assessing the situation.

Winners don't care about the luxury tax. It's the players you have, not how much they cost.
