    I find this pretty interesting. How will people respond? Will douchebag trolls still be douchebag trolls when they have to use their real name? Will Forum Characters stop playing thier fantasy roles? Will people become closer, more civil? Or farther apart?

    I'm a member at several different forums where the members are overwhelmingly inclined to use their real names, and I find the discussions much more civil than on boards where anonymity is the norm.

    It isnt that the members are less inclined to being snippy, reef enthusiasts can be opinionated cusses...it just seems more difficult to be nasty to someone you are on a first name basis with...even if it is just online.

    Nobody in the Battle.net community is welcoming this change. Not only will this affect WoW forums, but any other forums related to Bnet, including Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

    The best part of this whole fiasco is that one of the Blizzard Developers, in a show of defiance, went ahead and posted his real name (Micah Wipple) on the WoW forums to show the lack of harm in having one's name so openly apparent.

    Well, needless to say, information was found.

    He apparently has a criminal record as well. Two counts of driving without registration.

    He also promptly deleted his Facebook.

    That sounds cool, though I expect the experience would be sadly different on the World of Warcraft forums.
