Texans have more elite and high quality players....but then the talent level drops off hard compared to the Colts.

Just getting Luck won't fix the problems.

You guys are getting too caught up in this year. We're talking about having a great QB for the next 10 years vs. having a great DE for the next 10 years.

As much as it pains me to say it, I'd rather have a great QB for the next 10 years.

Watt is the better football player, but QB is a more impact position IMO.

Defense wins championships, Watt helps the team towards developing a championship caliber defense, Luck is a great QB, but the reason the Colts haven't gone anywhere, and aren't going to go anywhere any time soon is because they don't have that kind of defense. You can win with a game manager or mediocre QB, you can't really win with a mediocre defense.

If QB was all that mattered, the Broncos would be the defending champs.

yea, it's like Houston is wasting JJ Watt by not having a proper QB.

JJ Watt balled out last season & the Texans went 2-14.

    What does that tell you?

Drew Brees, unquestioned elite franchise QB, balled out for over 5100 yards in 2012 and the Saints went 7-9.....what does that tell you?

I think that color code chart is fraudulent because it has Reggie listed as a better starter than Luck and Foster who are both elite players at their position. Plus it has Nicks listed as an average starter which is freakin hilarious. And anyone who has ever had TY Hilton on their fantasy team knows he's a magician because he'll have a big game and than disappear for a month or two.

But I didn't ask about fixing problems _ I simply asked if we switched J.J. and Luck which team would be better... Do you think we would be a playoff team...?

They also got screwed by Goodell that year as well.

Brees also threw 19 interceptions and fumbled 5 times. All it really tells me is that their defense sucked and they had no running game. It seems a bit silly to attempt to argue that even JJ Watt is worth as much as an elite QB. I'd trade Watt for Luck and Rodgers but probably not Brees.

Lol since when is Luck only a "Good Starter." He's borderline elite.

Watt despite his obvious greatness can be neutralized. You can't neutralise someone like Luck when they're on their game.

Hopefully the return of Clowney can be the two-headed dragon we need to allow Watt to run riot, but this team aint winning nothing without a serious upgrade at QB.

I'm torn though. My SwatLikeWatt shirt is majestic.

Except when the teams with average defenses and explosive offenses win them, as demonstrated by Indy, Green Bay, New Orleans, St Louis, etc.

Just because something is a popular cliche doesn't make it true.

Green Bay had a top 1-2 defense that year Major... They were dominat.

St Louis and New Orleans defenses were very opportunistic and had some good players.

It's really good to have both a good defense and offense. I believe even Seattle had a top 5-10 offense. It's several teams out there with good defenses but fail to make the playoffs though.

Yeah you can, you can completely shut down QBs with a great pass rush. We see this time after time.

Good QB's can shred a great pass rush. We see this time after time.

So if we had the best long-snapper and/or holder of all-time and no one else was even close, then we should also take them over Luck?

Elite QB's account for 5 more wins than elite DE?

Also consider the NFC being the more dominant conference.

That's not the lesson there, the lesson is that no matter who you have on your team, you win and lose as a team. Watt is a better player than Luck and it's a lot more likely to get to the promised land with an elite defense than it is hoping that an elite QB goes on a tear.

The Texans were in a position to beat Luck's team with Fitz at QB, why? Because defense > offense most of the time. Watt is a MUCH more rare commodity than Luck is, in no way would I trade him.

Yes, but it takes a team of great pass rushers to shut down an elite QB. One JJ Watt will not shut down Luck, Manning, Brady, etc..
