Yeah would we get Sherman too? Wilson is a mobile game manager. Makes plays when he needs to be not relied on to win games. Used to think Brees was on the level but saw what happened when Payton got suspended a year. Only Brady, Manning and Rodgers could drag a group of orcs through a 10-6 season.
yes the team did poorly, but Drew still played pretty well.... threw for 5K+ yards, 40+ TDs. Yes, his numbers dipped a little in some areas, e.g. 63% completion, but it's not like the guy was a scrub.
Nonsense, football is a one on one game played between QB's results always come down to which team has the better QB, if a QB is a "winner" their team will always win and if they lose it is clearly because their QB is a "loser".
I agree. Flacco is a winner, lets trade Watt for him. I would include Foster as well if they required it as we would no longer need to run the ball.
Teams value their top 10 QB's more than J.J Watt anyday... Sorry... but they aren't trading them. We could maybe get Ben Roethlisberger or something of that caliber, but that's a MAYBE if the GM bumps his head
I don't think either is easy to find but a top 10 quarterback can still win games. We have the best defensive player and our defense was still garbage last year and we only won 2 games. Buffalo and St Louis lead the league in sacks and still had losing seasons. Brees had a horrible defense 2 years ago and they still won 7 games... Dallas had one of the worst defenses ever last year and they still won 8 games. On the flip side you don't have to have all world defensive players to have a good defense. Last year's Saints for example.
I think that's worthy of a "who says no?".... "JJ Watt for Ben Roethlisberger, who says no?" I mean the obvious answer is the Texans or whatever team has JJ Watt no matter who the GM is, but it's a fun question anyway.
yes but these things are easy to fix. Just replace the parts that aren't capable of taking advantage of the advantages JJ gives them (coaching staff, OLBs, etc...). Its finding a Watt that is the hard part. That's done. As for getting a top 10-15 QB. That's not nearly as hard as finding a Watt either.
You could fix those issues but it still doesn't guarantee a winning team... That's why I brought up St Louis and Buffalo. Seattle and San Francisco had good defenses but were still losing teams until they got better quarterback play. And I believe J.J. is a BEAST... But let's be real _ he didn't even crack the top 10 amongst defensive linemen in sacks last season. Plus more times than not you can always find a good pass rusher on the free agent market. Just look at the pass rushes that were for hire this off-season. Can't say the same about quarterbacks though.
All these people talking about Watt being a Houston legend and ending up being more famous than Hakeem are crazy. Hakeem brought two championships to this city single handed, no way Watt can/will ever do that. Watt will be as important to Houston as Andre Johnson unless the Texans luck out and get a good QB. You cannot win in this league without a QB, just because there has been a recent streak of decent QBs in the draft past 2-3 years, people starting to forget what a rare commodity they are.
Exactly, football is a one on one game played between QB's and the best QB always wins. I don't get why there are people who think it's some kind of team game.
I understand it is a team game, but the QB is the most important player on the team and makes the greatest impact on the outcome of the game. You have to be close to perfect on other aspects of the game to get by without a above average QB. If they had a draft with all the players in the league, Matt Ryan would go before Watt.
