Celtics fans, for the most part, do not want Harden. I've asked those in my circle at least. Anyway... regarding this thread... if you are going to trade Harden, you are hitting a rebuild button. Dude is clearly flawed in some ways that are limiting in the playoffs, but he's still a REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY good NBA player. You'd take him above Russell, that's for sure. The issue is less Harden - though you wish he'd be a more well rounded player (play decent defense) that didn't have random low energy playoff games - and more GSW. KD and Steph are 29.5 and 30 years old. Klay is younger. Dray is younger. They won 73 games without KD. You have to hope for injuries and them playing below their potential to beat them. If you take the current team, have every come back, and add Lebron, as per other threads, you are likely still an underdog. The Warriors "fit" better. But certainly its another step in the right direction and is about as close as we'll ever get to being competitive with GSW. IMO. Personally... the whole add superstars until you have a chance and win thing doesn't sit great with me. It kind of cheapens the feeling a bit. Not in a we added CP3 sense. Or the 90's team added Clyde sense. But adding Lebron is a whole different level, akin to KDs move. So it cheapens it a bit. But I'm a fan of winning and rings... so clearly that's the direction they're going to take this offseason Could the come back to win the series ... sure, still a possibility... again, GSW may still underperform while everything clicks 100% for the Rockets. But bearing in mind the GSW are 26-4 over their last 30 playoff games since adding KD, the idea that they'll go 1-3 at best over the next 4 seems so unlikely. Game 1 was really the one that slipped away. As for rebuilding... well, its obviously not happening.... but if you ask for Booker + #1 pick and they say yes, then seems like it'd be hard to not pursue that, lol. Doncic + Booker + Capela + turn the rest of the roster plus MDA back to a run and gun plus 3's... would at least be a fun building process. Not that 65 wins isn't fun... but its also kind of grueling when you know what awaits you!
Man you people are really ungrateful, mans been carrying us for years then we get another true all star on our roster and this happens. Also Harden is better than Kawhi enough with these dumb trades and this dumb thread .
these threads are a complete waste of time... you lose the trade everytime when you’re the one trading a top 3-5 player... i mean how can y’all think our team would be better than it is now... threads like these are reasons why i mostly stay away from CF after losses
If the Rockets arent facing a team with 2 superstars and 2 other stars then they are coasting to the championship. Harden turned this franchise around. And while guys like LeBron and Paul George keep their plans a secret, Harden let's everyone know he wants to be here as long as possible by signing extensions. Then comes this past summer. They added a ball dominant superstar. Everyone said it wouldnt work. "No way they co-exist with only one ball." Not only does it work... it works better than any other regular season Rockets team in history. It worked because James was selfless and was willing to do whatever it took to win. Anyone who honestly says we should trade Harden at this point is completely foolish.
