Dirk is a great player. I don't like the Mavs but you don't turn down a talent like that. Cuban is not going to trade him though.

Always paired Dirk and Yao in NBA live.

But doing that in real live is next to impossible. Cuban will never let him go, and I really doubt Dirk will leave Mavs anyway.

In your fantasy, if Dirk is to be had. Definitely yes, yes and yes.
Imagine Yao on the low block and Dirk on the outside. They would be virtually unguardable. Dirk can get yao the entry pass. With one 7 footer passing to another, it's going to be very tough for the fronting defense. Besides, Dirk doesn't have as big an ego as tmac. He will make yao look much better.

Bosh is good. But if Dirk was in Toronto, he might have already got past the first round.

So, if the entire offense runs through a large center- the double team on Yao is inevitable. To compliment that would you not want a shooting PF?

    REEKO,

It's going to storm like crazy, because I could not AGREE with you more...

Dirk is a littl _itch.... One big drama queen...

You guys think Martin doesn't have defense, Dirk is Dr. OLE.. Worst than Lewis Lloyd...

Cuban doesnt have to trade Dirk. dirk has the option to opt out. If Dirk leaves for nothing the Mavs are screwed and would be forced to rebuild right away. they dont have time to make moves or groom players when their core is in their early 30s. To trade off or wait out the contracts of their core would take at least a year or two. I'm not sure cuban is ready to throw in the towel yet. I think if we offered scola as part of a sign and trade he'd be interested. Scola isn't dirk, but he's more than capable and would bring much needed toughness and fire to Dallas.

Why would dirk not work with Yao? If we can keep Hill, while acquiring dirk, then that still gives us the option of putting a more traditional PF next to yao, but gives us a HUGE option we didnt have before. A capable 3 point shooting PF. If they believe Yao's rehab will go smoothly there's no reason why he shouldnt be able to score one on one in the paint. You spread shooters around the 3pt line like the old rockets and you got a winning combination. Not to mention Dirk won't be just a 3 point shooter, he could actually carry some significant scoring load when needed. He'd be a perfect entry passer as well..

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Houston, Toronto, and Dallas being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Toronto, and Dallas had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The only question I would have is what to do with Scola in this case...and I really like Scola, too.

We already have arguably the worst defensive backcourt in the league. Now you want to pair Dirk next to our immobile center. Sure.....

The team needs toughness, and Dirk is not that.

wow thats a fairly nice trade, but I don't see Toronto doing that. They would definetely want Scola in some way. But that being said it gives both the Rockets and the Mavs what they want

He has done such a nice job leading his team in the playoffs, and he is so tough, really a hard nosed player! Why wouldn't we want him?

That is my attempt at sarcasm.

Miami is rummored to be making a big deal offer to him. they have a ton of money and Wade has indcated if they Sign a fellow allstar, he'll stay. My guess is he'll either stay in Dallas or he'll go to Miami

We can make this easy and trade Yao for dirk. They would probably want more since we're getting the better player though

Because we have already surrounded him with 3 shooters in Brooks, Martin and Ariza/Battier. The problem is, if you have Dirk in there also, your defense is so bad outside of the SF and C, that we will get wrecked.

In my opinion you have to have offensvie/defensive balance. I dont like big men on the perimeter, I think you need bangers/garbage men down low.

Sorry to burst through your delusions of grandeur it USED to go through Yao when it went to halfcourt. Assuming it would be the same is silly because:

    A. We have no idea what kind of player Yao will be when he gets back

    B. Yao has proven time and again he's not capable of shouldering all post scoring capability

That PF you're describing is someone who fits next to a Hakeem, Shaq, Duncan or any other big time low post scorer. Yao has shown last season that while he's still capable of scoring effectively in the post, injuries have slowed down too much to be the franchise scorer that Shaq, Hakeem and Duncan were. Rather than get someone who game perfectly complements Yao, it better to get players who are:

    A. also low post scorers like Yao (Al Jefferson, Scola)
    B. Have a game totally opposite Yao (Chris Bosh, Dirk)

Getting either of these lessens the offensive burden yao has to carry, and instead of facing double teams because the other pf can't score on his own, Yao will be working against single coverage, something which he will always have the advantage in being 7-6 with post skills and all.

Getting a dennis rodman type of pf will be the kiss of death to Yao's production and our success as a team. What happens to our offense when Yao gets fronted and his scoring goes way down? Are you going to depend on your "garbage man scorer" to score in crunch time? There's a reason people are clamoring to either keep scola or trade for Bosh or consider trading for Dirk, and its certainly not because these guys are good at cleaning the glass and scoring garbage points
