Hell no. I do have concerns about D-Mo ever becoming a good rebounder, but that post game of his is special. Think about it. He's only 24 years old. This is the first season in the NBA he's gotten any significant playing time. Flash forward a couple years and this guy could be an incredible offensive player. To me, he's untouchable right now unless a bonafide superstar is available and Dragic is not that.

My concern would be that the Rockets might find themselves short on quality bigs next season if DMo is traded. Looking at this in a vacuum (with no other bigs being brought in) is a little worrisome.

Not saying Howard is done, but you hope for the best and plan for the worst, right? If DH were to return as a significantly less-effective player, what do you have left?

Clint Capela, who has promise but has yet to score his first NBA basket? Jones, who will probably return to full strength (no guarantees)? Dorsey (nuff said)? And unless I am mistaken, keeping Josh Smith will be highly unlikely, unless he somehow can't get an offer better than the MLE we have to give. Am I missing someone?

But now it's go time. The Rockets aren't building for the future anymore. The future is now.

If you have to give up a good young player with future potential for an all-star caliber player in his prime that could greatly help a championship run, I don't see why you wouldn't do that.

The window of opportunity to have a team that can truly compete for a title is very small.

"Just get him in free agency."

    Bima:

    [rQUOTEr]2015 Cap Room

Assuming the currently projected 2015-16 cap figure of $66.5 million ends up being accurate (more on that here), and assuming that no further trades are made, the Rockets could have about $7.6 million in available cap room next summer.

To get to this figure, Houston would need to renounce its rights to all free agents except for Beverley (who is inching closer to being due a $2.725 million qualifying offer for meeting the league’s “starter criteria”) and either trade away its 2015 first round pick(s) or have any such player(s) playing overseas next year. (Since the original publication of this article, I have learned that Brewer officially declined his 2015-16 player option.)

While the Rockets could always open up some additional room by trading away salary, it is unlikely that — barring a trade of Ariza for little to no salary in return — they could generate enough cap room to make a legit run at a star free agent this summer. Again, that assumes that the current projections remain intact.

This may explain why the Rockets seem to be going “all in” this season.[/rQUOTEr]

Yes. Dmo has a chance to be a good player, but Dragic is an all nba player.

For those of you who are talking about signing Dragic in the offseason, it's unlikely we'll have the cap space.

Yes, I would take the risk even without the extension guaranteed. I think at this point you have to. Rockets wont have cap room for an allstar like Dragic next summer unless they dismantle all the current roster. That would require to create a new roster, create new chemistry, more time..... And that assuming that we get the all star that summer, which is unlikely. We can't wait having Harden at this level and Howard with health threats... If it means for the Rockets to use different assets to get Dragic, they should do it. Rockets can afford that. The result of the move it would be a top roster in the NBA.

My question is why Dmo and not T-Jones. And I like both of them, they're different prospects of PFs with different strengths/weaknesses, but both have similar potential. Just asking.

Does this also mean we can't keep Dragic if we trade for him?

I love the confidence everyone has in DMo's development. I personally would but I don't think we have to. The Suns waited too long and have lost a lot of leverage.

Dragic is in a very similar situation to the situation that Josh Smith was in Detroit.

In Houston, I guarantee you Dragic would be lighting it up and making those around him better.

IF the N.O. Pick is not enough give the TJones, Pap, Canaan, or Capela. DMo has proven to have better low post skills and can only get better, not even Dwight's low post play is better then DMo's

Yeah,if you trade for Dragic you can keep him .BUT you have to pay him the 5 year near max.

DMO can also play center while Jones was injured most of the year and his value is at the lowest atm.

I am tired of trade over and over without any development plan ongoing. We need one rising star developed from this club no matter how many star players you can get through trade. Dragic is solid, but he is not a young player with a lot potential any more and more importantly, rockets can not fulfill his demand on new contract next season.

We would have his bird rights so we could go over the cap to sign him. Cant go over the cap to sign him in FA unless we have his bird rigts. Someone correct me if im wrong.
