We have way too much history with injury prone stars to risk this. It might be worth the risk if he sits out most, or all of this season, and has no choice but to sign some where else for mid level to minimum salary. Not as a max contract guy though.

Why would you sacrifice Asik (a hard working defensive center who actually rebounds) for Bynum (a whining douche who has a history of injuries)?

I would say Asik is more than servicable.........need a stud at the 4 spot.....like yesterday. Also insert Morris at the 3 spot to add some punch to that first group..

Absolutely. Injuries may be a concern, but he's as good of a player we could feasibly get, not to mention he'd add some swagger to our team which probably has as little of it as anyone.

Let me see... Bynum is making $16M, Asik is making $8M.

Last year Bynum posted 11 reb/game. This year Asik (small sample size, I know) is putting up 12.3 reb/game.

Yes, Bynum is a better scorer, but let's offer the following framework.

Right now, we can afford ONE max salary contract, AND ONE contract in the range of Asik ($8M).

    So, here are our options...

Asik + One max contract PF
    Bynum + One $8M PF

Is Bynum THAT much better than Asik that he offsets taking an $8M PF vs a Max contract PF?

Bynum ALSO is currently injured, AND he's had some well documented attitude issues.

Yah, I think most of us think we got Asik for a steal... so WHY would you give up a Bargain when the odds of picking up a Bargain PF are pretty low?

Not worth the risk at all.

How does that make any sense? You say that about someone like Kevin Martin, Howard, maybe even nash....but Bynum is at another level when it comes to injuries. He's on the Brandoy Roy road right now, along with Oden.

This pretty much sums it up for me. Great observation and reasoning. Thank you.
