As a kid, I spent a week each summer in Chicago visiting with cousins, and we'd play pickup ball every day, and every kid played with their tongue sticking out like we were all some kind of Michael Jordan in the making. Jordan was our hero, the greatest of all time, but we were all too young to realize what we were witnessing.

I followed the Bulls because of Jordan (and because my cousins were such big homers), but my team was the Celtics. If the Internet had existed back then, I don't know for sure how I would have behaved on the Bulls forum. I'd like to imagine that I would have been respectful to longtime Bulls fans, not zealously debating or defending against every single perceived criticism of Jordan.

Who are you kidding? Go look on YouTube and compare the # viewed for Lin vs Kobe vs MJ videos. Even Stern calls Lin the biggest thing in basketball. There was a reason why Lin was the Number One in Time's 100 last year (uh, Time is a magazine in case you don't know that).

Finally someone who has the bravery to be honest! So many Rockets fan who feel just like do, sir, come on this blog and put forth all kinds of talk about Lin's underachieving play, why he doesn't fit into the offense, why he can't play alongside Harden, why he should be traded--when you and I know the real truth of the matter is that they simply don't like Jeremy Lin as a person, and that the basketball talk is just a cover. Even if Lin went out and scored a triple-double every night--they would still want him off the team. It is very, very personal with them. They see Lin as maybe this weak, goody-goody whom they'd all but like to squish : it has nothing to do with the basketball.

 

No, Michael. You get it straight in your head that the earth is round and there is a bigger world out there than Houston and the rockets, oh, and CF (sorry, Clutch but think you already know that). :grin:
