He's better suited now to being a half-time bench-player for a contender that is already strong at SG and just needs someone with some veteran poise to keep the offense running when their starter is taking a breather. That way, he won't get so much wear-and-tear and his team won't rely overmuch on a player who is going to be out for parts of the season with injury.

Minimum contract for a year or two? Sure. Anything beyond that, nope.

houston would have some cap space, signing roy opens up the possible trade of martin to utah for jefferson or maybe package martin, scola, thatbet for asik, boozer, deng...

There's "injury prone" and there's "devastating career-altering injury"

Roy and Redd aren't going to be the same again. No sense throwing away money, especially when Martin/Lee are a fairly potent combo at the 2.

Lee or no Lee, it would be stupid not to float a lowball offer to him and see what happens. But I imagine other teams would be more than willing to outbid us if they actually need a 2.

For anything close to the MLE, no thanks.

I've read so many comments about how he might not be able to walk normal (or walk at all) if he continues playing pro ball and how serious his condition is.

My question is, knowing this... wouldn't teams fail him on his physicals?

You sign him for the right price. It's worth a flyer to strike gold. He has had more time to recover and workout. You never know, he might find it again.

Rebuilding teams and broken-down ball stoppers do not mix.

Yeah, let's replace T-Mac and Yao with another cripple. Brilliant.

Look for the Kings to go after Roy if the Blazers amnesty cut him.

I don't understand why people do not want him. Unlike Tmac and Yao you are not building around him. You are not paying him in the same neighborhood as those 2. You don't sign him for 5 years. We are talking a 1 or 2 year deal here. If he gets hurt so be it. He is not a player your building around, he is a role player if not his old self. His contract won't hold us hostage.
