Howard just said we will be fine without Parsons so the answer to your question is no. I disagree with your opinion that this team is "worse on paper." I also doubt that Howard passed on number of other teams just to sign with Lin, Asik and Parsons.

Considering Harden vanished during the playoffs and concedes career nights to the man he's guarding fairly regularly, I'd assume he's at least had some second thoughts. Regret might be a bit much after just 1 season though. If Harden improves then it'll be fine...if he refuses to address his shortcomings then I'd imagine Dwight might come to regret it. I'd say Dwight was the only one on the Rockets roster that consistently came to play each and every game of the playoffs. Some of the others were spotty...Harden was pretty much a no-show for the entire series.

Have you seen the Lakers "team"?

No. Howard does not regret signing with Houston.

Respected posters have gone out of their way on several occasions to completely debunk this widely perpetuated myth, yet people still run with it like it is indeed fact.

Crap on his playoff performance all you like. And again as bad as his defense can be at times, no one on Portland he had any responsibility of guarding even reached their regular season averages. It was all his offense that was to blame in that series. But for f***s sake keep the criticism in the realm of reality.

 Have you actually looked at the playoff numbers?

    2014 Playoffs
    Team ORtg, Harden on-off: +19.5
    Opponent ORtg, Harden on-off: +3.5
    Net on-off: +16.0

Here are some other net on-offs to compare to:
    Asik: +14.0
    Daniels: +2.9
    Jones: -3.1
    Lin: -3.6
    Howard: -6.0
    Parson: -6.2
    Beverley: -6.3
    Garcia: -9.1

Basically, Harden, Asik and Daniels are the guys who kept us in that series.

Jones: Opponent's offense actually did not torch us much with him on the court; we were more torched in rebounding.

Lin: Team assists and steals were much better with him off the court.

Howard: A wash offensively. Team gave up offensive rebounds and assists with him on court.

Parsons: Team assists great with him on court, rebounding terrible.

Beverley: Team steals good with him on court, rebounding bad.

Harden: Assists, steals, blocks, turnovers all worse with him on court; but Rox offensive advantage far far bigger than the defensive disadvantage.

In no possible way would it be funny if Howard joined the Mavs.

What is funny is the Mav's pathetic recruiting pitch to him:

Wait another season for the third star, and give one more year to gel...
    Howard should be happy?

According to the FA signing this summer, all I have for Howard is respect
I hope we can at least make one final for him

yea but they could of made room.

They were in the mix for Dwight, as well as Houston was. Dwight could of picked them, Lakers, Dallas or Atlanta.

Pretty sure he just said that he likes Ariza and that Ariza is a player that will run through a wall for you.

OP may be right. Parsons is that elusive "3rd star." He's the best SF in the entire NBA. so we went from having a big three to having just a big two. Howard must be pissed off.
