We should keep Parsons. Yes, we'd be overpaying him but we can't afford to lose him

LeBron and Bosh are staying in Miami. And even if they don't who cares now because they have dragged the process on for far too long.

    our number one priority is:

SIGN A BIG NAME FREE AGENT WHILE WE HAVE CAPSPACE, WHILE KEEPING PARSONS.

By the way, why are fans so concerned about the money? I never get this. Are we paying these salaries out of our own pockets? <.< Future flexibility? Whats the need to be flexibility when we need to go ALL-IN to compete now?!! We have NO future flexibility regardless, as we will have NO capspace in the future after this summer.

The best free agent we can get is Luol Deng.

Houston is simply an oil-and-gas town that does not have the sex appeal to woo douchebag wannabe gangster free agents like Carmelo and LeBron's tail Chris Bosh. Deng is a down-to-earth guy that will most definitely be willing to come to Houston if the money is right.

Their roles can be figured out later. Parsons can be our 6th man and small-ball PF. Worst case scenario we trade one of them and get good value back meaning we still end up with something rather than nothing.

His option year falls when Durant becomes a free agent

We have no capspace regardless. Retain that capspace? In this era of role players getting massive deals, our "retained capspace" only means we are able to sign a Channing Frye or at best Gordon Hayward.

By the time we have finally waited for a good free agent for a bargain price, Howard's contract will probably be up and we would have wasted 2 to 3 years of prime contention years.

Chandler Parsons must be resigned, at whatever the cost.

Totally agreed bro. Whats the alternative? Wait until next offseason when we cut everyone except Howard and Harden to sign another Hayward to a max contract while holding our breathe the other team doesn't match?

Massive deals for league-average players is the norm now, not the exception.

You don't get closer to winning championships by going backwards in the offseason.
Parsons is part of the Rockets nucleus, and the biggest and brightest commodity outside of Harden/Howard.
Some of you act like it's your money.

With Bosh we will have more cash for Parsons? That is illogical

Who cares. This is the NBA. There is a reason Parsons signed with Mavs and it is not because of personal feelings for Houston.

It would be a major betrayal. This is like the main rival in the same Division.

Chandler might make an all star game. Carlisle will unlock his full potential.

Then lay it out. That bird right. Does not mean Morey will do it.

Bosh is not a lock yet. But Parsons' clock is ticking.

And its just going to be oh-so-convenient that Durant will fall into our laps at just the exact time he becomes a free agent.

We struck out on LeBron, Bosh, Carmelo, Lowry, when our attraction and appeal is the best for a free agent in recent decades, and the best in the league, bar none. We have two superstars at the most important positions in the NBA while having an excellent GM and winning record, and a MAX MONEY SLOT on offer. All these free agents have to do is come and we are finals-bound, all while they are getting paid and pampered.

and yet, despite this massively appealing situation, nobody is even bothering to consider us.

I'm guessing from your take, the best case scenario is we let Parsons go, waste 2 years of contention and Howard's contract, and if every single thing falls into place Durant, comes here.

Worst case scenario is we lose Parsons, waste 2 years of prime contention, Durant doesnt come. We lose out on big free agents again. And we wait for another 5 to 10 year cycle for the team to become relevant again.

We simply can't afford to lose Parsons.

Me learning the CBA will prevent Rockets from losing Parsons and Bosh signing with the Rockets?

    I did not know that.

You get someone like Ariza who is slightly worse but better in some other areas.

And the team does not drop much.
