Deng is just as good right now as parsons... But then again I would rather have parsons for 3 million more. How does deng compare to parsons?
Yes, 15 million times yes, the guy is a good player has improved every year, fits well chemically with the team, and as I said in the other thread, Les made $29 million in profit, he can afford to pay Parsons and get Bosh. If, he is truly all about winning....this will tell us a lot. DD
Whatever money we end up clearing would have to be used in the next 3 days THEN match Parsons. How much we will have to spend varies on who we trade out. I expect the Lin and Asik trades to happen tomorrow. Then we will see.
To me the bottom line is that the Rockets are worse team if we lose Parsons. If there is another player we can get for cheaper that will make the team better than if we had Parsons, then I would be for it. Dallas' offer screwed the market, but you have to pay what the market demands. Again, can anyone tell me who out there will make the team better for a lesser salary than what we would pay for Parsons? I want the Rockets to be better next year not worse but be able to save 3 million a year by not matching Parsons' offer and then sign someone who doesn't make the team as good.
Actually, Houston will most likely ONLY decline to match IF THEY GET BOSH, and NOT the other way around. The whole reason that the Mavs thinks that they have a chance of HOU not matching is the cap crunch that would be caused in the even that HOU signs Bosh to a max deal: the team either needs to create $20.5M+ in cap room or do a S&T and subject itself to a hard cap at the $80.6M or so "apron" level. Either way will make it either impossible or at least very costly to keep Parsons at $14.5M. See here: http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/mavericks/post/_/id/4702560/mavs-go-all-in-on-chandler-parsons And here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=9084432&postcount=62 If Houston doesn't land Bosh, however, it actually should keep Parsons and look to add players via trade or free agency via the cap flexibility created via the Asik trade and maybe an additional Lin trade.
If James leaves Miami, you then try to get Bosh to take 19 million a year with the understanding that Parsons comes back and the Rockets will gladly pay any tax ramifications.
If we get Bosh or a comparable player in time to go over the cap for Chandler, yes. If Morey is striking out on the major targets, no, probably not. I guess that's a maybe, maybe no.
You match once you use up the cap space on Bosh or two depth pieces to replace Asik and Lin (Ariza, Deng, etc.).
Why does everybody care how much Parsons get it really should be is he worth the minimal cap space left over after bosh the answer is yes IMHO
