Somebody with the Texans needs to consider the fact that their star ILB has the opportunity to blow his knee out again the third time in 3 years and they need two high quality ILB's going into this season.

1st round - Clowney or ILB
    2nd round - lineman - O or D
3rd round - ILB (if Clowney is taken) or cornerback
4th round - cornerback or ILB

We have 2 quality OLB's that need coaching up on their potential, or somehow transition Reed to ILB if you take Clowney.

Build up the lines and linebackers first. BOB is THE QB coach so coach up TJ or Keenum. No one thinks Fitz is an answer at QB, only a stopgap.

Huh? There isn't any ILBs that are worthy of the 1st pick in the draft.

If we trade back with Atlanta, I take CJ Mosely in a heartbeat. He will take a lot of pressure off of Cushing and hopefully stop him from running around so much and getting hurt.
And if Cushing does go down, we still have a good ILB there.
Then we can trade up and pick up a sliding QB around #25, with our extra picks.

Why in this scenario is it Mack/Manziel and not Clowney/Manziel?

No. Clowney and Mack is the only haul in this draft I'd give up that much for.

I'm presuming we would trade down for extra picks and get Mack at 6 and then we wound have to use some of those picks to get back up high enough to get JFF.

Your thread title says #33 and next year's first. you think it would take MORE than that to get Manziel? Jesus, HELLLLL NOOOO to that deal.

I understand your logic and you make a good point.

I think O'Brien can be a good coach. But I'm willing to be patient and give him a year to clean up things around here. This team was built for Kubiak and O'Brien had to ball on a cheap @$$ budget on the free agent market. Plus the offensive line is terrible. Clowney said Luck better have his head on a swivel _ all the pass rushers the Texans are facing this year are saying the same thing about whoever the Texans have playing quarterback.

Not all games in the NFL are blowouts. A lot of teams win and lose by a close margin but it's a good team and or better team that will win more of those than they lose. Plus the Texans were feeding on the weak... Things done changed.
