There are VERY few people qualified to judge based on the "eye test" so it's best to use something more solid, like stats, if you aren't an absolute expert at QB evaluation. While no one stat ever tells the full story, a collection of stats achieves that fairly well and you don't have to be an expert to read a series of stats correctly.
Just out of curiosity, are people asking for the QB change because people believe that we are a QB away from being a playoff team?? Or just because they want the change? If your answer to the first question is that you think we are playoff material, then it must mean that every facet of our team is playing exceptionally well except the QB position. So far after 6 games, this is far from the truth. If your answer is that we need a change to evaluate what we have in Mallet...I would argue that a 3-3 season is relatively early(one road win, and two home wins)...I am sure if the seasons goal of returning to the playoffs is unattainable, then they may switch to Mallet, but until then clamoring for a new QB is really premature... This year, we rank #14 in total offense(22nd in PPG), and #29 in total defense(4th in terms of points allowed)...go figure. In our disastrous 2013 season, we ranked #7 in total defense(25th in points allowed) and 11th in total offense(30th in PPG). Since points are the biggest issue when evaluating wins and losses, our team has made a significant turn around. We unfortunately need more info... so until then, Keep calm and Fitz on...
First off, I don't believe that stats are all that matter. Second, name me a great QB that never had good stats... And third, name me a crappy QB that always had good stats. Fact of the matter is that numbers don't lie. Thanks for trying.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is the 2nd worst starting QB in the NFL, and he's an average back up QB. Might as well see what they have in Ryan Mallett.
It is amazing to me that supposed football fans of many years can find a way to blame every loss on the QB. Fitzpatrick hasn't been a world beater but he has pretty much met expectations (Not that my expectations were high or anything).

Ryan Fitzpatrick has a higher DYAR and DVOA than Russell Wilson so far this season
— Mike Meltser (@MikeMeltser) October 15, 2014

Stats don't back up that claim, so no. He's probably closer to the 18-22 range which isn't impressive so I don't see a reason why people would exaggerate by saying that he's the 2nd worst when it clearly and obviously isn't the case.
Your eyes are lying to you because the stats don't lie... The stats say Fitzpatrick can consistently carry this team when they need him to... The stats say on a crucial 3rd and 2 he can get the 1st down... The stats say if the game is on the line and it's only 2 minutes left _ Fitzpatrick can consistently get the job done... Heck, Fitzpatrick has a better YPA than Luck and Rodgers and that's the most important stat when evaluating a quarterback so that means he's playing better than them... It doesn't matter what your eyes tell you because the numbers don't lie ----> except when they do
