    You are basically giving him the MVP right now for being 2 games better than the Rockets.

    Which is funny, because Harden was about 8 games better than Westbrook but no one wanted to count that.

    Celtics are playing great overall without Kyrie dominating and just playing his usual 20ppg, 5apg type of game. Rockets are playing great with Harden absolutely dominating like he's been doing for the past 3 years. That's the difference to me. You can't have Harden runner up two out of 3 years and that 1 year not even make an All NBA team with historic numbers and then come out and still put up 30 and 11 and lose the MVP to a guy averaging 20 and 5 who has never been in contention for an MVP and because what? Boston might end up with a few more wins? So now it's back to winning matters? Seems the narrative will continue to change to make Harden look undeserving every year.

    Kyrie's stats are trash.

    Won't be shocked if he wins though. Two years ago it was about team record, last year it was about triple doubles, this year it'll be about some other bullshit to keep Harden from winning MVP.

    It is laughable that he's even in the discussion, and since Charles said it, he's now in the discussion.

    Watch, this is how sports media works.

    Someone makes a hot take and now everyone else has to respond. Now someone has to say "No way he should win MVP" and for the sake of sports talk radio/media, someone has to play devils advocate and argue FOR Kyrie.

    Next thing you know, the narrative for Kyrie is simply his team having the overall best seed then you have that mess with Lebron and it suddenly becomes the better story. The MVP award is proving every year just to be about stories.

    Jemele Hill made a joke about Harden always finishing 2nd and since these people vote, they are speaking it into existence.

    This is only the natural evolution of the MVP award:

    2015 showed that stats don't matter
    2017 showed that wins don't matter either
    2018 will cement that the award is little more than a popularity contest
    in 2019, Lonzo ball will win MVP because Big Baller Brand is "bold" or "profound" or some ****

    The Celtics allready won 2 games without Kyrie playing. Take Harden out and the Rockets would be something like 6 and 8 at best.
