Jordan has 6 rings because that Bulls FO was amazing. Rockets FO kinda sucked for most of Hakeem's years. Team won freaking 55 games when he retired. No Rockets team would have sniffed the playoffs without dream.
now see if you could go back in time and do it all over again knowing what we know today. I'm still drafting Ralph number one in 1983 and Clyde at number three instead of Rodney McCray. Then in 84' I'm drafting Akeem number one and trading Ralph Sampson to Portland for garbage and the number two pick drafting Jordan. Portland gets a legitimate big man that they craved and we get Jordan. Sampson most likely has a longer career without his knee getting chopped and we could argue how our team would have been with both Sampson and Akeem inside. Dream and Jordan would have staked us to the Finals for many years if their ego's could coexist.. But under no circumstances would I ever draft Jordan over Akeem. I remember very few sports writers ever saying that Jordan should have been number one over Dream. Most of them jump on Portland not taking him . Dream was arguably the best center to ever play the game and it wasn't his fault that the team imploded. If we drafted Jordan instead of Akeem, we would have been in the same boat.
Hindsight never works out the way you think though. What if Jordan was on the Rockets and the Blazers took Hakeem? Maybe Jordan would have left after some years. Maybe he'd have gotten injured before his championships and no one would remember him. No one gives Houston a hard time for taking Hakeem over Jordan. No one. That's how respected Hakeem is. Fact is if you had a super talented big man, and a super talented guard - which would you pick to build your team around? Knowing how rare top big man are, you take them.
No one who loves the HOUSTON Rockets would pick Jordan <blockquote class="twitter-video" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">"<a href="https://twitter.com/NBATV">@NBATV</a>: "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!" <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ClutchCity?src=hash">#ClutchCity</a> premieres Tonight – 9PM ET! <a href="https://t.co/IyJ5AJSOsg">https://t.co/IyJ5AJSOsg</a>"</p>— Kk..☁..Ernie (@ThAtKiDErNiE) <a href="https://twitter.com/ThAtKiDErNiE/status/608043479000715264">June 8, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

There is so much wrong with this post that I don't even know where to start. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing you weren't around to actually watch Olajuwan and Jordan play. That would explain the part where you indicated that Lebron is the best player of all time. Kids these days.
The best voting option should've read... "No, because Hakeem was better" Jordan had many advantages over Dream. 1) better teammates 2) better coaching 3) playing in a weaker conference 4) far weaker competition at his position 5) more love from the refs Give Olajuwon those advantages and he'd easily be GOAT
No way Portland passes on Hakeem for Bowie. Another poster made a great point....drexler and olajuwon in portland would have been great for years.
There also isn't any guarantee that Jordan would have brought, at the very minimum, 2 championships. Situations would be different. Maybe he would have felt as if the Rockets front office wasn't giving him what he wanted and he leaves the first chance he gets and we are chip-less. If you ask me if I would trade our two championships for six, I would say yes. If you asked me if I would draft Jordan over Hakeem in hindsight, I say no.
Hakeem was the type of prospect/player GMs cream themselves over. A legit seven footer, with a high motor, who can play defense, move like a guard without an injury history? That guy is going first in a draft any year.
you mean 1) Ralph Sampson doesn't crack his hip in Boston 2) Cocaine busts for Lloyd, Wiggins (like nobody on the Lakers or Celtics did cocaine)
Think about how close the two of them came to being teammates. Charlie Thomas should have sweetened the deal a bit. Sigh.
The answer is If this guy never got injured <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EVjl0QRkLoI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
