Great game. It's a shame one of these two doesn't get out of the final 16. I don't know if Greece has enough to finish this game. Spain is just too deep and talented.
Sofo is out and Bourosis is back in, this is where Greece will lose the game. Bourossis has barely contributed anything to this game, can't afford to put him in. Sofo has drawn the double team and kicked it out the 2nd half and Greece just needs to hit their shots.
Where'd they find these commentators? Both of the guys in the Spain-Greece game are awful (do we really need a British commentator for a basketball game? Come on now) and the guy that was flying solo for Serbia-Croatia was an absolute and total moron. I'm glad my Serbian boys survived against Croatia, I expected nothing less than a crazy hard fought game against our rivals. Tough draw though, we win our group and have to play Croatia then Spain right off the bat. They've been playing great all tourney even though nobody's been talking about them (our double OT loss to Germany came without 2 of our best players). I think we got a shot against Spain; the only team in the tourney we can't beat is the USA, but I really don't think anyone will take down the Americans this year.
Yep Greece just wasn't deep enough. If Bourousis contributed anything to this game then maybe they could have won though.
when sofo made an and-1 play the commentator went nuts. he said, "that man can't be denied. give him something to eat!" LOFL for like a min.
According to Hollinger, Diamantidis retired from the Greek national team after the game. http://twitter.com/johnhollinger
Slovenia (Dragic, Boki) v Australia (Newley, Mills) starting in a few minutes. Slovenia are heavy favorites to win this game.
In the three games against real competition Australia have made the opposition look like they're playing horse at the 3pt line. Open man and automatic points for Argentina, Serbia, and Slovenia. I don't think starting two point guards, ie small guards (Mills and Gibson) and their worst defensive wing player in Ingles has helped.
Nasty throw-down! If their guards are up to snuff, Turkey would be Team USA's toughest opponent. Their size/height and 2-3 zone defense is just what the doctor ordered. But I don't know if their guards would be able to handle the on-ball pressure from guys like Westbrook and Rose contesting every dribble.
After an Olympic Dream Team victory over Angola, in which they won 116-48, Charles Barkley got into a physical altercation with a member of Angola towards the end of the game, afterwards he says: "Somebody hits me, I′m going to hit him back. Even if it does look like he hasn′t eaten in a couple weeks. I thought he was going to pull a spear on me."
