What was Sampson's style at Oklahoma and Indiana?

Did he have uptempo teams that push the pace?

Or is this something new since he's come from the NBA?

Kelvin's presser, he talks a little about his experience in the NBA and with our squad so it may be worth watching for most of cfans

    Assuming we don't replace him--yes.

However, that's unlikely. So depending on who we get, it may be a gain.

I'm not too sure how much he contributed, you can never really tell. I guess we'll now see.

Morey's system has already started trickling down to the college level. You're seeing more drives to the basket, more 3's, and fewer mid range jumpers.

And last year you saw Butler University to become the first College program to hire an analytics analyst.

It's taking time, but given the amount of money in Division 1 basketball, it's pretty much inevitable. The leak is in the dam and there's no stopping it now.

Sampson's old teams used to be very defensive minded and half-court offense.

When he says he "learned a lot" in the NBA, I have no doubt he's talking about Moreyball.

Cougar BBall should be REALLY fun to watch.

Now that he's gone, rockets need a Xs and Os kind of coach to assist Mchale. Cuz he ain't one.

I would think not only Moreyball, but things like player management and situational set management.

Having the privilege of working under Pops, Skiles and Morey would be an education for all but the most Elite head coaches. And if McHale is as patient as Sampson says he is, that can only benefit a coach like Sampson in terms of dealing with the ups and downs of working with such young players.

In terms of game play style, I do agree. I would expect much FASTER offense and pace, more drives and more 3's. College defense (while more physical) just isn't anywhere near the intricacy and level of execution of NBA motion defenses. It's just easier to create good looks as you're talking a lot of guys fresh out of high school who for the most part haven't played together for any significant amounts of time.

Hopefully being a head coach at UH won't be as complex as Japanese Algebra
