[Woj] Rockets may be offering the farm trying to create space

I wouldn't blame the D'Antoni thing on ownership. MDA has done this at every stop he's been at and his agent and he both love leaking to the press.

 

People act like the Rockets didn’t have one of the 4-5 best teams in the league last season and the best (no worse than second best) team the year prior. If they can hit on value free agents where they missed last summer, and if they actually use their Taxpayer MLE to add another key contributor (contrary to popular belief, they did NOT use it last summer, so this would not just be “more of the same” for them), they’ll be right back in contention.

Jimmy Butler would be nice. But I like this core, too.

 

I'll be on vacation from Sunday through Thursday so hopefully nothing happens until Friday. Firstly, because it means I will be able to see it all happen live. Secondly, because the panic and chaos on CF from Sunday through Thursday will be fun to read if I decide check in while sitting on a toilet.

 

I’m with you and I like flexibility in not being hard capped. I also agree that if Butler quickly signs a 5 year max, someone needs to get in big trouble for being a leak.

 

The key part of your statement is "one of the best 4-5 teams". The goal is to be the best and to do that, they need to match what Golden State has been for several years and what it looks like the Lakers, and maybe now even the Clippers a couple seasons from now, are transforming into this off-season. A very difficult task for the Rockets, hell maybe even impossible, but by staying pat now you are losing what little grip on the top rung of the ladder the franchise had established in 17-18.

Warriors dynasty finally weak for one single year, and that exact same time, a team that’s been terrible for nearly a decade lands 3 superstars.

Agree that the current core is talented enough to compete, but it is very hard to believe that we’d bring back the same group after all of these leaks.

 

We’re going to say jk to Capela and EG again? Gordon is mentally weak in this area.. I would expect him to struggle again to begin the season similar to last year. His awful shooting contributed to the 11-14 start

 

(1) It's the Lakers and like it or not, it's a brand that still resonates.
(2) It's clear with this off-season that teaming up with Lebron still has value for the league's best

 

They haven't landed Kawhi yet. He could still sign with their cross-town rivals.

You like this core because you're satisfied with ALMOST getting to the Finals every year. Aside from the Warriors who beat an injured Cavs team, you have to go way back to find a team that won a championship without a star wing.

 

Hard disagree. A healthy POR team might be better or at least even. Switching Turner with Bazemore helps them so much.

The Jazz added Conley who is a huge upgrade over Rubio.

Denver can only get better and should have lots confidence going into the season.

LAL will stack their team with good vets on the minimum.
