If the Pelicans don't salary dump Rivers, or maybe even Anderson, depending on what the salary cap will be. The Pels won't have the cap room for the Rockets deal to happen.

 

I don't think they would've made the deal had they not felt confident enough to deal those guys.

Actually they got him for a year and a half and he was basically a negative in his second season. There is no evidence at this time that the Rockets made out well with this signing.

 

What he did his 1st year hear with helping the team get to the playoffs (and his playoff performance) was worth every cent the Rockets paid him.

 

Paid 12 mil for 1.5 years of quality service from a better than average center plus a draft pick in the 4-19 range.

Easily worth it.

Eh, he played his butt off when it counted. No one can peg Houston's loss to Portland on Asik, that man did his job and in my opinion completely vindicated himself for the pouting he did in the regular season. Plus, if you ask his teammates they all say that he actually was injured during that stretch as well.

We basically bought a 10-14th pick in 2015 for Asik and his 2 yrs of play.

without Asik I highly doubt we land Dwight or make the playoffs 2 years ago... He also played very well against LMA in the playoffs and honestly we paid him I believe ~10M for 2 years (which was underpaying him) and got solid production and a lottery pick for him. He was a steal at the price we paid for him and he helped us land Howard, so all in all we made out like bandits in his acquisition.
