The purge of Houston Rockets' front-office executives continued with director of player personnel Arturas Karnisovas accepting the assistant general manager job with the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Karnisovas, 42, will join new general manager Tim Connelly in the Nuggets' front office.
The Philadelphia 76ers hired away Rockets executive vice president Sam Hinkie in May to become the franchise's GM.
After joining the Rockets as an international scout in 2008, Karnisovas had been promoted through the organization and most recently held the title of director of scouting.
As a player, Karnisovas had a decorated basketball career. After starring under P.J. Carlesimo at Seton Hall, Karnisovas won two Olympic bronze medals (1992 and '96) for Lithuania and was selected as FIBA's European Player of the Year in 1996. He reached the Euroleague Final Four three times.

You know the Rockets are doing it right when every team wants to interview our assistant coaches and they keep hiring away everybody in our front office.

Big test for the Rockets to prove they are one of the best-run franchise in the league. If they can continue finding great replacements for all of these guys

This sucks. We were just watching him on NBATV shootin' the **** with Parsons and McHale, and now he's gone.

Its all good man let the organizational and coaching tree branch out further. We will receive favors and sweetheart deals in future no doubt. Didn't Sam Hinkie take Royce White off our hands? Its all good.

There was no sweetheart deal with Hinkie. The Rockets sent cash to cover White's salary and the rights to Aldemir.

I didn't mean that was a sweetheart deal either. Just bringing the fact he did a favor for us. Of course they had to get something but who thinks Royce White will pan out. It was a favor and we won't have to trade with Sacramento every year now.

It's's like how the patriots keep getting their staff/FO pillaged.... except we don't have all those championships during this administration. as lobg as we have Morey, we'll be ok.

When it's all said and done, Morey's GMing tree will run further than Ainge's. Ainge : Morey :: Parcells : Belichick

I wonder how smart the Rockets have been about separating the scout and the info. Presumably we have tons of data so that softens the blow. But if we don't, then it's a massive blow to lose someone that experienced, that connected and thus far that successful as part of a solid drafting team.

I wonder if the White deal as a precursor to letting Hinkie go so easily and not a favor... as for this particular loss, I think its just a function of being in win-now mode.
