Geez your fast. He got better as time went on in his little HC stint for the Rockets but I really doubt BKLYN would want someone like Sampson coming into to coach a legit contender mid season. They should go with someone who has more experience in the NBA and has made some playoff runs.

Can we hire Avery Johnson to be part of McHale's coaching staff then?

Might actually make sense considering he lives here in Houston. Don't know if there's any specific language in his contract preventing him from joining so soon

I thought that might happen. Sampson is a great coach and would be a great choice for Brooklyn.

Not sure what has Sampson done to deserve this kind of animosity.

@lincoln The Nets are only legit contenders in their own mind but I agree that they will probably go for an established coach. How about the Gundy?

Sampson has some sort of clause in his contract that allows him to take a HC gig during the season IIRC. Generally most teams allow your ACs to interview for a HC position pretty much no matter what, anyway, though.

He benched Jeremy Lin once, so obviously the logical conclusion is he's a biased hater.

On a serious note, he did a good job as the head coach here when McHale was out. On a media note, I really like talking with him -- he does a great job answering questions. He will make a very good head coach in the league.
