He is extremely good defensively. There's not a flashy stat to make that apparent to people, but he is. He's also a solid shooter, not elite, but good enough that he has to be respected. He's a perfect fit next to our ball dominant guards. This team's most glaring weakness is wing defense. Frankly it's our overall defense, but we're stuck with Westbrook, Harden and Gordon playing the lions share of the minutes as smallish guards already. We don't need more smallish guards.
Will D-Morley pull one out if his @$$???? Or will The Tilman pull all the strings again??? Stay tuned
Offense is not our problem, despite the constant moaning about it around here. I would love to get a guy who is elite on both ends, but they're kind of hard to come by. So you have to make due with a guy who is great in an area we need and acceptable on the other end.
Hayward or Smart are likely options. Tatum and Brown are untouchable. So was Smart at one point but Carsen Edwards and Tremont Waters are exciting young PGs making a lot of noise in G League recently. Still think it's a multi team trade: BOS: Capela, House, Dieng, Rockets SRP ORL: Hayward, Vonleh HOU: AG, Covington, Timelord, Okogie MIN: Rockets FRP, Fournier, Tucker, Edwards, Nene *Celtics get coveted player to improve starting 5 spot, add another wing, pick *Magic add all star scorer plus back up 4/5 *TWolves receive FRP, starting wing, potential starting PG (need), lock down 4/5 (Tucker) to complement KAT AG is Kenny Faried except hes taller, just as long, just as much energy, just as bouncy above rim player, better passer, better 3P shooter and most importantly is much much better man/switch/perimeter defender. Rockets can play AG as smallball 5 (think how House was playing vs. Pels - even House became double double machine in just a half). Then use Timelord in limited minutes or like Capela for certain matchups. Robert Williams is long and uber athletic like Clint, just not as smart or consistently productive. Rockets are going to run teams into the ground. Russ loves to push pace, MDA loves space, smallball is not going away. Nor should it. https://www.si.com/nba/rockets/features/will-mike-dantoni-ride-small-ball-lineups Russ/Rivers Harden/EGo/Okogie Covington/McLemore AG/Thabo/Howard Timelord/Harty/Tyson Can still make moves at buyout or sign 6'8 Jeff Green to back up AG/Covington. Green played with both Russ and Harden. Optional Trade: Thabo + SRP or McLemore to PHI for 6'10 Jonah Bolden (7'4 wingspan) who thrives in rim running, screen and dive, switch defense, rim protection, 3 ball - can back up 4 as well as 5.
We were about to trade Capela for Jimmy Butler and Brandon Clarke just few months ago...and now we'll end up trading Capela for Kanter/Theis and Covington...welp.
Ariza played an integral role is us winning 65 games and nearly dethroning the unbeatable team. We got that far because of defense. Sucks the shooting went so poorly at the end, but you have to pick your poison with role players. A lesser defender, but a better shooter and we would have stood no chance of even making a game 7.
Lol at the idiot people here constantly getting angry at people for (honestly) expressing that this team isn’t a contender. You don’t trade your Capela unless you suck dick
I totally agree with that, I don’t think Roco is better than that version of Ariza and i wasn’t saying that Ariza wasn’t a very important part of our success, I wished we kept him. I don’t think Roco is as good as Ariza was that’s all. Definitely not worthy of 2 1s.
