marcus smart is pretty much in the same mold as a tony allen or patbev. regardless of his size or position, you just stick the guy on the other team's best player and he'll dog the **** out of him. i'll take 2 or 3 tony allen type players on a team any day. first team to 80 points wins.

He shot 36% last year. We are almost halfway in, there is a good reason to believe he will stay that efficient in our system.

"10x the player RoCo is" may be an exaggeration but it's not too far off. Smart is one of those guys that should essentially be untouchable because he contributes so much, especially stuff that doesn't show up in the boxscore. Imagine a younger PJ with ballhandling abilities and way lesser limitations on offense overall while being just as good and versatile of a defender, if not better.

They have shot the exact same % from 3 over the last 2 years. So that point is factually incorrect.

Smart is a good defender at the guard spot. Covington has been one of, if not the best wing defender in the NBA for the last 5 years.

Covington is at worst an equal shooter, a better defensive player, and unlike Smart he actually realizes he shouldn't shoot that much, so his FG% isn't in the toilet. Calling them equal players would be generous, but not outlandish. Saying Smart is noticeably better is completely stupid.

You don't trade 6'10" starting Centers for 6'3" role players.

every boston media member is going to chime in about how great every one of their assets are. they finally get a break from complaining about Ben Simmons not shooting threes.

    celtics suck.

they got lucky a real champion came and got them the only ring they are going to get in the 21st century with KG.

    boston sucks.

    people from boston suck.

tiny little city with the biggest ego in the country.

Why do I feel like every NBA team is now feverishly calling Fertitta and offering us all their overpaid trash players just hoping we will bite.

You guys have convinced me. We can play a lineup of Tucker, Harden, Gordon, Westbrook and Smart and I'll be fine with it.

Plus I just renewed my subscription so I don't want to leave just yet.

Both Smart and Covington are really good defenders, but Smart is the better player because he’s not solely a spot-up shooter on offense. He can attack hard closeouts off the dribble and he’s a good, willing passer. I’d be thrilled to have either Covington or Smart on this team.
