Every year, the media finds a sharp-shooting white American player who excelled in college that they anoint the second coming of Larry Bird. They fire up their hype machine only to realize that the next great white hope simply doesn't live up to their expectations. Expectations that were unfair to begin with given how exceptional a player Bird really was. It also sucks for the same reason it's unfair to label people the next Jordan, just ask Harold Miner. It's also why it's probably annoying to Chase to be constantly compared w/ Bird when his game is completely different. It probably doesn't help that there's that pic of Chase in a Bird jersey, but Chase can fly whereas Bird had like a 2in vert, but was a transcendent player.

Morrison? I don't feel bad for him. He gave it his all and simply wasn't good enough. He got paid well, but didn't live up to his hype. I think his skills will translate better in the Euroleagues where they can use outside shooting. There are tons of former NCAA stars w/ great careers overseas but never had the shot Morrison had.

Some things are unpredictable, you're correct.

Some things, like DD finding the next Great White Hope and dialing up the Tom Chambers/Larry Bird/Bob Petit Playbook.....are like clockwork.

You nailed it. Then, he gets upset when you are just stating the truth. Nothing wrong with falling in love with the next great white hope, but these guys don't hold a candle to Bird.

    stop whining chubs.

It's only fair that your decades worth of noxiously arrogant pronouncements be brought up when they don't pan out, which is most of the time.

If you don't like it then shut up. Really.

From number one pick in the NBA draft.
To getting traded from the Bobcats to the Lakers.
To accepting a training camp invite from the Wizards.
To being waved by a team that just signed Hilton Armstrong.

    His most memorable NBA moment.
