Biyombo will be either the first or second center taken in this draft.

They (Morey) will take the BPA with more than 2 years of college ball.

More than likely, given that $Ball overemphasizes experience, it'll be Fredette.

And in so doing, they'll guarantee that the starting Center on the 2011-12 team will be 6'4" tall. (And please don't tell me about free agency...unless you can guarantee no other teams will throw a contract at players like Tyson Chandler).

But let's look at the plus. Having all those "assets" at PG and PF...there will be a lot of trade deadline chat on using them for a "star" to propel a .500 team into the WC Finals.

Bottomline, if they don't target a true center, everything else is just media chatter.

Biyombo looks like a player who'll fill the same role as 2Pat but with a body and greater upside closer to DeJuan Blair.

Scouts will tell you that if you can shoot the rock, then there will be a place for you in the nba. That's the one skill that trumps all other lack of abilities that you might have.

I'm hoping we can use the 14th pick to trick a team into taking Brad Miller. Miller and the 14th pick for a sack of potatoes

I'm a DM fan, but I'm going to curse him if he doesn't take either a center or a defensive 2-4 specialist.

Though, I can see the b*stard pulling out a hotshot PG or SG with the pick. I don't think even Morey would dare draft another PF.

Most likely, we won't know how good the pick is for another year - more if there's a long lockout.

How would you feel if he drafted Biyombo and Singleton?

    Best. Player. Available.

And Aaron Brooks (one of Morey's best picks/moves) was the 5th or 6th PG on the roster at the time he was drafted. This season's experience aside, that worked out pretty well for the Rockets.

I think it's time to sell high on Budinger.

    1) No. That can't be the only consideration.

    2) Did you notice how much we needed a center this past season? How many more seasons should we go without one, just because DM finds a SG that's 3% better than some center he could have had?

    3) Combine being stubborn on that point with his apparent stubbornness about always having to get the best of each trade. We drafted a PF last year. Neato. Couldn't DM have found a way to trade one of them since then?

Isn't a year of having an unbalanced roster enough for you and DM the GM?

No, you have to understand something. The best player available is ALWAYS the best choice. Choosing someone based on "upside" never works. Name one player chosen in the lottery due to his upside rather than his talent that worked out? Just one.

The only way to have a successful draft is to choose the best player available or trade away the pick. That's it.

If you choose a tall player who isn't better than what you have he won't get off the bench anyway... regardless of who the coach is.

Would T-Will, J. Hill and the #23 pick for the #8 pick be too much or not enough?

We aren't talking about BPA versus "upside." We're talking about BPA-only versus a combination of BPA and need. It should not be 100% BPA, and I don't believe any GM believes that, either.

If J.Hill had another few months of improvement, I think we could trade him plus the #23 for #8, depending on the other team's POV. I think including T-Will confuses the issue.

So right now, we'd be getting the better end of that deal, clearly. I think J Hill and #23 would be worth somewhere between #11 and #15 at this time.
