Probably the most overlooked aspect of the Martin trade is how it will affect the Chuckwagon's potential for playing time.

Chuck gives us so much on the defensive end and intangibles (post defense, p/r defense, taking charges, rebounding, outlet passing etc.) but let's face it, there's only so many minutes Chuck can play if our primary wings are Shane and Trevor.

But not only will Martin offset much of Chuck's scoring deficiencies, but Hayes is the best passer out of the high post so that will perfectly compliment Martin's ability to move without the ball.

Losing Landry is a quite a loss but if Hayes can do his thing on defense and Martin does his job on offense, this could turn out to be a more effective team overall.

It's funny how Chuck Wagon pretty much the Kevin Martin anti-matter in terms of basketball.

Chuck is short for his position, Martin is tall for his.
Chuck is muscular, Martin is skinny.
Chuck has little talent scoring the ball, Martin has tremendous talent scoring the ball.
Chuck has no J, Martin has great range.
Chuck is a great passer for a big, Martin is mediocre at best in terms of passing.
Chuck is a great defender, Martin is a bad defender.
Chuck can't make a free throw to save his life, Martin not only hits them but takes a ton.

Just about the only thing they got in common is that they both have funny shooting form.

Otherwise, if Chuck and Martin collide in practice, they will mutually annihilate each other and the Rockets will be left with nothing.

Or maybe, their best qualities will combine leaving us with a player named Kevin Hayes who is more valuable than Lebron James

Chuck will get more playing time because we lost Landry not because we acquired Martin. I don't see Armstrong, Jeffries or Hill as better players that can replace what he brings to the table either.

Chuck Hayes will a more important role now that Landry's gone. On a side note, I wonder what are the chances we can pry Josh Howard away from washington next season. I know he has issues, but I know it would absolutley KILL Mark Cuban's ego to see Josh in a Rockets Uni  Especially after he screwed us over getting Butler

:) I predict a great frienship developing between the two because they have nothing in common.

Really it was that much easier to deal Landry when you have Hayes ready to fill that position. If JVG and Yao were around Hayes would play more minutes than Landry and that's probably how it should be. Defensive rebounding is so important.

That claim could be made for any of the 3 of Hayes, Battier, or Ariza. Would think it helps Ariza the most actually...

Hayes is at least performing to expectation. Battier's mileage is just adding up. Ariza is underperforming on offense the worst of the bunch.

Now Ariza goes back to HIS regular role as 3rd/4th option slasher, shoots higher percentage shots, doesnt have to play 40+ minutes a game. Battier's minutes should go down, saves his legs, saves HIM from having to pretend to create offense. Hayes goes from 4.7th option on offense to 5.5.
