Yeah, I like some of the Linux offerings, I'll have to try this one out some time. I still game and Windows is typically best for performance (just in games)/easy installation and running of game. I think this will change though as SteamOS hopefully takes off.
Because its expensive as hell to support legacy versions of Windows. Think about how much time and money it costs to continually develop security updates for old operating systems. Plus older versions of OS have very clunky update processes which creates all kinds of security headaches since many users dont take updates. Microsoft wants everyone on a single version of Windows so it can easily update versions with new features and security updates. The money they save on not supporting old versions of Windows more than offsets the lost revenue from giving away Windows 10 for free. Plus they want to push their UWP app ecosystem and the only way to do that is to get everyone on Windows 10 to incentivize developers to build UWP apps.
