Win Win Situation. We either get 14th pick or #2 Seed.

?

What would you prefer?

  1. 18th Pick + #2 Seed vs. Mavs in the first round (+guaranteed HCA against Spurs(?) in 2nd round)

    231 vote(s)
    78.6%
  2. 14th Pick + #5 Seed vs. Blazers in the first round (+no home court against GSW in the second round)

    60 vote(s)
    20.4%
  3. Some other scenario where Clippers lose or Rockets lose (which seems highly unlikely)

    3 vote(s)
    1.0%

So...likely 5 seed, with 6 seed a greater chance than 2 I would say. Damn...

The 2nd seed and the 18th pick is much more valuable than 5th seed and the 14th pick.

The difference between 14 and 18 is insignificant. For example 12-Lamb, 16-Royce, 18-Jones. All comparable and obvious proof a better player could be picked slightly later.

Whereas the 5seed is likely an easier first rd win especially with Baum now hurt also. Buttttt the 2 seed is much better suited to help provide continued playoff success.

Home court in 2nd rd is much better than 4 draft slots.

We have a greater chance at the 2 seed than the 6 seed. The Spurs will be favored against the Pelicans, but we'll be more favored against the Jazz.

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but I feel like a Rockets letdown against the Jazz is a lot more likely than the Spurs losing to the Pelicans.

I would love nothing more than to be wrong.

If we win and Spurs lose, we win the division. That means we automatically win a tiebreaker against any non division winner.

I think from the most probable to least based on the teams that are favored..

    #5 seed
    #2 seed
    #6 seed (very low probability...)

Damn. That Memphis loss reeeeaaally came back on us this year. That and if we would have just taken care of business at home against the freaking Spurs. Make your ****ING free throws from now on. We would be guaranteed division winners already

If Rockets are awarded the #2 seed over the Clippers due to being a division winner would they also hold home court advantage over the Clippers in the 2nd round? In other words, is the tiebreaker for seeding purposes only or for home court advantage as well.

Well if we take 2nd seed, we'd actually get home court against Spurs if we ended up facing them. So that's a nice plus for getting the second seed, but both options are great and i'm happy with how things turned out.

Those games don't matter to me.

The losses to teams like the Magic, Lakers, and Pistons are much more frustrating at this moment in time.

The Jazz have been resting Hayward and Favors for 4 out of 5 or so of their last games, hopefully they get rested against Houston too.

The Rockets get the 2 seed by winning the division regardless what Clippers do. Seed possibilities:

Rockets get 2 Seed with win and Spurs loss
Rockets get 5 Seed with win and Spurs win
Rockets get 6 Seed with loss and Memphis win

Spurs get 2 seed with win or lose along with Clippers, Rockets, and Memphis
Spurs get 3 seed with loss, a Rockets loss, and a Clippers win
Spurs get 5 seed with loss, Rockets win, and Memphis loss
Spurs get 6 seed with loss and wins by Rockets and Memphis

Memphis gets 6 seed with loss or wins by Rockets and Spurs
Memphis gets 5 seed with win and loss by Rockets or Spurs

Clippers get 2 seed with win and loss by Rockets and Spurs
Clippers get 3 seed with win and win by Rockets or Spurs
Clippers get 5 seed with loss and win by Rockets and Spurs

Well. Easily the most frustrating to me is the Memphis no call. We would have a 1 game lead on the Spurs had we won that game that technically speaking should have been ours. The game where we miss 21 free throws and lose by 1 (off a last second blocked shot no doubt) is equally as frustrating. I really don't blame the Rockets for losing against teams that just get hot and play well even if they aren't on the Rockets tier. Light shines in a dog's ass every once in a while

Yes but do Rockets also get homecourt over LAC? Portland is the 4 seed without homecourt advantage.
