Win 7 Home Security

    I just got this virus and I'm pretty sure i got rid of it but are there any programs out there i should get to help prevent me from getting it again? I already had AVG before, but that obviously didn't seem it work. thanks.

    uninstall AVG, get MSE (microsoft security essentials)

    Uninstall your Java too. Its security exploits are the source of many headaches.

    This thing is frequent. For now if you want to remove the infections, download HitMan Pro (free version will do, you will just have to navigate to the infected files via windows explorer)

    Delete infections or change them to an unusable extension such as ".vir"

    You may also need a program named "rkill" to stop all running processes. If you can identify the process in Task Manager under processes. Look for a PID or remember the name.

    Open up command prompt and type in "TASKKILL /IM example.exe /F"

    (note, example.exe is the name of your process"

    Remove the infections, do a follow up cleanup with malwarebytes to remove any other infections. You might have to do all of this in safe mode depending on what's going on.

    Oh, sorry I just realized you said you were able to get rid of it. Yeah like other says you can use MSE or AVG. If you want to pay for anti-virus, i recommend Vipre
