Anyone know his avg during the streak? I'm too lazy to look it up.

It seems like there have been several 1-4 games in the streak (not to mention a 1-9 job in there), but that could be my imagination.

Turns out he's hitting .336 during the streak, which ain't half bad ...

Here's hoping Willy can be an everyday player after all. He's also been more aggressive on the basepaths, which is good.

Go Willy! He's showing now why he was a lock for ROY until September last year. Too bad with all his hits, no one can drive him in.

His on base percentage, for a lead-off hitter, is still pretty atrocious - at least according to Charlie Pallilo

His OBP is atrocious period, let alone for a leadoff hitter. It's up to 0.370 during August, which is pretty good. But the previous three months he didn't even break 0.310.

well, the only way he can get on base is by getting a hit. he's not gonna walk alot b/c pitchers aren't afraid to throw strikes. worst case scenario, Willy gets a single instead of a walk, but he's more likely to make an out.

In case you weren't kidding...it's Jeff Kent.

If you were, I'm a bigger sucker than I thought.

He's in pretty good company too:

CINCINNATI -- Willy Taveras extended his hitting streak to 26 games with a bunt single Wednesday, setting a Houston Astros record.

The outfielder bunted to the third-base side of the mound and beat pitcher Chris Michalak's throw to first on a close play.

Taveras had been tied for the club record with Jeff Kent, who also hit in 25 straight games in 2004. He exceeded it with his 16th bunt single of the season.

Only two other players in the majors have longer streaks this season. Philadelphia's Chase Utley hit in 36 in a row from June 23 to Aug. 3, and Boston's Manny Ramirez put together a 27-game streak from July 15 to Aug. 12.

Yeah, at this point, I'd say it was pretty much a definite that Willy breaks DiMaggio's record.
