I don't agree. I'm a person. Are you saying the majority agree?

    OK.

Is that why we decide them by majority vote instead of using an electoral college?

    The people that matter agree.

It's because we don't let voters from outside of the state determine who wins your local and state elections. Even with presidential elections, we use the same majority vote to determine who wins the electors. It's the same system really.

Yeah Baby! Show those true colors! "The people that matter"!!!!
No wonder you're not interested in the popular vote. That would include everyone.

Jeez. OK, a state often has counties. You with me so far? Now, since you love the EC for "the people that matter" so much, each state could have an electoral college in which the electors come from the counties. You would love that! Except you don't. Because. . . .

Who are "the people that matter"?

The electors are picked by popular vote.....

Counties aren't the same as states. I shouldn't have to explain this.

The people who matter are those who understand what they are talking about, that understand the system. It's part of why we use representatives in many instances not just in government. You don't know what the hell you are doing, so you hire a lawyer to represent you in court. Cletus from the trailer park probably doesn't understand how the system works, so he's got someone else representing him in government that (hopefully) knows a bit more than he does.

In short, it's okay if the unwashed masses don't realize why there is a need for the electoral college system so long as enough of the ruling elite do. It's one of the many ways that people are protected from themselves by the system they put in place in America.

    Yes Baby! Elitist gold. . . .

So . . . you are one of "the ruling elite" who understands the EC . . . and I am "Cletis from the trailer park" who doesn't understand the EC. And . . . you matter, because you are one of "those who understand what they are talking about," and I don't matter!

See, we are getting closer and closer to the truth.

No, while I do understand the need for the EC because my education extended beyond primary school, I'm not part of the ruling elite. I have representatives just like Cletus.

Excellent! Enjoy being laughed at. Good for mental fortitude.

B/C, I didn't vote for tRUMP. At least - not dumb enough to do that.

You vote tRUMP, you support stupidity. Wonderful!

You should look in mirror every morning for next 1,494 days and say, "I am a dumb person. I vote stupid, I am stupid."

    Very Dumb!
