Will the Lock-out's end bring Amnesty, and 'piece'(s) to the Rox? And, if so, what does that mean for The Good Guys?

Several decent-to-good big men just might become available, like (alphabetically):
    Andersen
    Biedrins
    Brand
    Haywood
    Jefferson
    Okafor

DM the GM apparently wanted Bidrins; I want Brand. Okafor might be a nice addition.

    What about other positions?
    Hedo
    Shard
    Rip
    maybe even Joe Johnson?

I have heard nothing on amnesty yet believe it will occur, and believe it holds upside for the Rox.

Wow, I want nothing to do with any of those players and Brand? WTF?

Okafor is a wanted "piece" in NOLA BTW.

no way the NBAPA allows teams to void contracts no matter how ridiculous they are. I won't happen.

The previous amnesty did not void contracts just their ramifications to their team's salary cap.

Okafor might be wanted in NOLA, but would they (NBA, that is) still want his salary on the books for the ultimate sale of the team?

Brand is still a pretty utile NBAer, but not at $18m (or whatever) per year.

Bidrins? DM the GM, it sure sounded, had a jonesy for the guy.

Not Rockets related, but with the amnesty thing, I hope Brandon Roy goes to Phoenix.

Jeff (either, actually) you could get without amnesty. With amnesty you could get either/both on the cheap.

But, the operative point is that there are low cost upgrades available through an amnesty program (but with Miller gone really no one to throw under that bus).

The Minny Star claimed that if T-Pups made a coaching hire, and the hints are our man RA is now their man (pro or Kahn?), then it was the white smoke signifying the end of the lock-out.

So, if their dots are to be connected we will know by midweek, perhaps, what, if any, amnesty effects may affectThe Good Guys!

Actually, I don't think either of them will be (easily) available.

Jefferson may be available through trade (for the right price), but I don't think he'd be the Jazz's amnesty cut. Mehmet Okur will make "only" $3M less than Jefferson and is no longer a highly effective player. He's the more likely candidate for amnesty, even with Jefferson having an additional year left on his deal.

As for Favors, I doubt the Jazz trade the guy for whom they just traded their franchise player. They're going to rebuild around a front court rotation featuring Favors, Kanter and at least one of Jefferson or Millsap. Look for the Jazz to shop those last two players and try to maximize the return they can get.

With several future lottery picks on the horizon, if they play their cards right, the future could be very bright for Utah. Derrick Favors figured to be a big part of that.

Don't like any of these, not what we need to be a contender.

Re: amnesty you may be right about Okur but Jeff could be had in lotsa deals. Both Jeffs, very available I'd think.

RJ? Has not given much of a fiesta in ol' San Antone.

Me? Brand or Okafor would be nice on the cheap but I'd guess DM the GM is ABCentric...

It's sad that the Rockets are aching for a decent big man while teams like the Jazz have a plethora...

amnesty is coming; who'll come to the Toy Shop?

    http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/or...sf/2011/09/canzano_time_is_running_short.html

Two NBA sources told me Tuesday that they believe there's consensus among owners on a few important lockout issues. One of those issues being an amnesty clause that would give NBA teams the ability to release one player, pay his salary, take no luxury tax liability, and also, not have that player count against the season salary cap.

This is different than the last round of amnesty, which didn't give the cap relief. And if true, it would likely allow Portland to strongly consider releasing three-time All-Star Brandon Roy, creating an additional $15 million in cap relief next season. Which is only to say, the Blazers need a general manager in the chair now, as this develops, if they're going to fully maximize the advantages of making such a powerful play.

Who knows when the lockout will end. But when it does, free agency will be a free-for-all waged in short time period, as recently happened in the NFL. Teams have to be ready to move fast. That's especially true for Portland, which faces some difficult decisions involving high-profile players.

    Let's not kid ourselves.

Roy can still play. But he's not the cornerstone player that he once was. I'm not ready to give up on the guy as an NBA player. He can still help someone in the league win games, but if the Blazers can get full cap relief on his maximum-contract salary, well, it's a painful move that must be made.

Keep an eye on that development.

An "amnesty" that pays the player's full salary while giving cap relief seems to go against everything the owners are trying to achieve.

If this is really legit, the lockout will be over soon. The players will jump on this.

There are other issues including a reported agent-led revolt. I hope the Fat lady is being cued up but I'm not yet too optimistic.

This is true, however: teams will have to be ready to move F-A-S-T when the ink is dried. I believe that will benefit DM the GM and the Toy Shop's fortunes.
