It would be interesting to get Lowry or Dragic back. And then it would be a better comparison model. For my money, I think Dragic > (Lowry and Lin). Between Lowry and Lin, it depends on what aspect of the game I was after. If I was after someone to collapse the defense ala a driver, I think Lin > Lowry, but if I was after a conventional PG, I'd go with Lowry. But it's neither here nor there for me. But given a choice of all 3 for my team, I'd go with Dragic first. Then it's a toss up. Depending on which side of the bed I got up on or however that saying goes All in the name of science, of course
I love Dragic, but I think Lowry's a better player. Dragic is more of a scorer whereas Lowry can also distribute and defend
Being a point guard in this system is tough because its basically isolation. Theres no set plays for the point guard to call. Even if he reads the defense, theres only so many things he can do whether different plays will give him different options. To me, it's like a game of roshambo. Defense give you one thing, you call a play to attack it's weakness. But in this system, you can call stuff like screens and pnr and iso. Theres almost no stagger off ball screen or elevator plays. It's quite sad. We have so many talents that would benefit. Hell Troy Daniel could average 15+ points a night just running the set plays Ray Allen and Riddick has running for them.
What if McHale trust Lin more? GM1, Lin scored 7pts in OT, but he is cooled off because they played Harden as PG/primary ball handler in the last minutes. GM2, Lin didn't play many minutes in 4thQ. HOU didn't move the ball. They played too much Howard and Harden ISO. GM4, McHale didn't play Lin in OT while Parsons and Beverley did nothing. GM6, Lin played good D on Lillard in 4thQ, but he was benched in the last minute. Instead, the worst defender in this team, Harden, was on the floor.
Like it or not, for better or for worse, JHarden is the franchise player. So you have to accept that for what it is worth. If XYZ is my franchise player, I would be handing XYZ the ball in crunch time. So if the team loses, then the franchise player didnt deliver. So there. Make of this what you will.
No way. Like it or not we blame Lin here on clutchfans. Even if he doesn't play because of injuries like last years finals against OKC, we blame Lin. So if the franchise player didnt deliver, its ok. So there.
Technically, players like Canaan, Dmo and Daniels, but ignoring them for the main rotation, Jones gets pushed around by guys bigger than him and can be a tremendous liability when that occurs. Lin is the worst defender on this team, Harden can be and by some margin its laziest defender, but in terms of actual capability, nope, Lin. This idea of he contained Lillard for x is complete horse****, ask Portland fans what Lillard is like, that's why his stats aren't so great, he just goes MIA for whole quarters and turns up at the end.
My eye test tells me that he plays great when he's the main focus and he plays terrible when he's forced to camp out at the 3 point line and basically be a SG. He's a good player but just not a good fit for our current team.
Tell that to Hubie Brown who always says "Lin has a high BBall IQ". His problem is consistency not his IQ.
Great theory - probably correct too. When Lin ends up with D'Antoni again, the NBDL will never be the same! I can see the new White Plains franchise being very interested in both.
8-man rotation from best to worst defense Howard Asik Bev Harden (when trying) Parsons (rookie year) Lin (now) Parsons (now) Jones Lin (early season ball-watching and over-helping) Harden (99% of the time) You've got to be trolling. There's no way Harden or Jones aren't the worst defenders in the rotation right now, with Parsons headed that direction.
I wish him the best of luck and success. I really do. He didn't whine, make excuses, and did his best.
Lillard wasn't trying to score, but Portland were freely setting up the offense as they wanted. Lillard scored nothing in the first 6 minutes, Bev goes to the bench, Lillard scores 11 prior to the break, then scores 11 points for the next 32 minutes, then scores the game winner, he goes on huge bursts, disappears, turns up at the end, that's who he is, Aldridge is the guy who usually ticks their scoreboard over. And then you'll go on some rant about Harden, whose offense was crap, but christ, Matthews had a PER of 9 and a negative OWS, and Batum after going for 66 points in 3 games, put up a whopping 9 when we switched Harden on him. His offense was crap for 4 and a half games, but it's not like we were getting lit up by his man (which was the complete opposite to the lazy "everybody's an all star" he gave us in the regular season).
