The first part of what I bolded is irrelevant due to what you said in the second part. If you single cover Nuk deep, it's like you aren't covering him at all. On the other hand, with Fuller, he might catch it, but you better make a good throw, he's not winning any jump balls. Of course if he breaks open deep, and you make a good throw, he might catch it, and if he does, it's a TD but he's a guy that can't beat you very many ways, so it sort of limits how you can use him. Having a 2nd Nuk would allow you to do anything.

Because the Texans have been leaped several times in the the last 2 or 3 drafts. The Texans probably wanted to make sure no one did it again this year. They wanted Will Fuller. I imagine Rick got the Redskins on the phone, offered a 6th rounder to flip flop with them, Redskins asked "who are you taking?", Rick said "Fuller".....and boom.

Fact is Rick didn't need to trade up. He didn't need to trade up in the 2nd round either. Jets were taking Hackenberg the whole way. But hindsight is 20/20. They wanted their guy in Fuller and Martin and they went and got them. I applaud Rick, even if it wasn't necessary.

You're conflating results with scheme. You're also assuming, via your own bias, that Fuller will disappoint (and, to an extent, Doctson will become Deandre Hopkins).

As far as I'm concerned, this thought exercise only works if everyone lives up to their potential; that's why the Texans drafted - no, traded up for Fuller.

And Hopkins can be single-teamed deep. In fact, if I were a DC, I'd be thrilled if the Texans wasted Deandre Hopkins by routinely sending him deep - it's a low % play, generally, and he'll outrun exactly zero cornerbacks in the NFL. He's far more dangerous inside 15 yards of the line of scrimmage, IMO - he's Andre Johnson 2.0.

Actually, there was enough smoke that Cincy wanted to move up for Fuller and another team (Chicago?) wanted to trade up for Martin.

Also, if the Texans routinely get flack for teams jumping them... its hilarious they get flack when they actively look to prevent it.

I think you missed both points based on your post but I don't feel like continuing as I've explained before. Go Texans (which means Go Fuller!)!

Seeing that WR is the biggest knuckle-head position in the NFL... if the Texans got a guy with his head on straight, and a good competitive nature, they're going to find a way to utilize his speed/talent to a plus.

I hope so. His stats will be forever compared to Doctson & Treadwell on here.

Frankly, by morons. They'll be utilized and targeted differently; Doctson and Treadwell are automatically the best WRs now on each of their respective teams and neither will be asked to make their living 15+ yards away from the line of scrimmage.

    This.

Fuller wasn't taken in order to be the number one guy on an offense. He was taken to be a good second option for a team that needed that to put their offense, which is coming together, over the top. His stats may not be the same, but his impact will most likely be lost to a lot of NFL fans - if he's successful.

Fuller should bring what Devier Posey and Keshawn Martin *should* have brought. Legit #2 and a slot. Should be happy they sucked though...got us Nuk. Fuller should thrive here, no immediate pressure and will be allowed to work opposite a top 5 WR. Early returns look good on the kid, pretty impressed with his demeanor so far.

One takeaway from the first day of Texans rookie minicamp: nobody out here has any shot of covering first round pick Will Fuller. He'll have to wait until the vets get in for some competition.

Wait, Fuller had a one handed catch? Impossible, because some people here are saying that he cant catch without the use of his body. I hate articles that lie.

Did he mean to say it would have been a TD if he didn't drop it?
