As we speak the refs just gifted OKC 2 points on a fastbreak that never should've happened due to a shot clock violation not called.

Dwight's FT woes was just part of the problems. The bigger ones are mchale inadequate coaching n harden off night / or and ISO play n his defence.

You could clearly see OKC get possession before the shot clock ran out.

Yeah replay didn't lie there. At first glance looked like a bad call. Westbrook barely had it before clock went off.

    This is the question:

Are the 7 misses and other information (like how badly each miss is, Dwight's body language, etc.) sufficient to defeat the null hypothesis that Dwight is likely going to shoot the same % that he did during the season? Are the misses just random coin flips coming up 7 tails in a row or is Dwight choking under the pressure of playoffs in a close game?

It's the same call a coach has to determine when a player is performing at a level (in terms of any aspect of the game) substantially higher or lower than his usual level-- Is he in an especially good/bad condition today and will continue to play good/bad if you keep going with him or is it more likely that he reverts to the mean?

In the end, it's up to the player to perform. If Dwight doesn't go 0-for during the stretch, McHale doesn't have to make the decision in a no-win situation.

    No game planning or preparation.

    McHale chocked. Players looked lost.

Taking out Dwight was one thing, but putting TJones, who was getting abused by Aldridge the whole night, instead of Asik is another.

That was my issue, not taking Dwight out, but leaving Asik on the bench as well. F**** moron.

Lopez can't handle that kind of pressure for sure. And Howard would feel better since not only him is put under the spot light. Disrupt their flow and take the game out of rhythm totally. Do no harm to Rockets with 10 pt. in hand.

Just let Asik play from 4 min to 2 min mark in 4th every game. Problem solved.

Because Mcfail panicked and was ****ting himself.
The more he panicks, the more stuff ups.
He can feel its the begining of the end of his coaching career and he knows it.

People in this thread miss the whole reason for Hack a Dwight in the first place. The main point is to get the Rockets out of their offensive flow and slow the game down and extend it. Get players out of rhythm. Stotts said so after the game. He said Dwight missing is just a bonus but the main goal is to get Harden out of rhythm, Parsons out of rhythm, etc.

We could have literally had Dwight shooting FTs for 30 min if McHale did not take him out. Especially seeing that he missed 4 straight. No way Portland was gonna stop. McHale made other mistakes but taking Dwight out was not one of them. Portland put a SF at the 5 to get him away from the basket anyway multiple times. Those are playoff adjustments. McHale must counter.

    What would Pops/Thibs have done?

Pop took Duncan out when he needed a defensive board and costed them a title. Pop gave LeBron wide open shots when he was on fire. Stuff happens.

If we leave Howard in, it doesn't matter. Because we get about 1 point per possession out of it and still have our best defender on the floor.
