Judging by the current state of race relations in this country, I think it's great and much needed that there are people studying these things. If we stopped trying so hard to discredit them and hear them out it might just be worth our while.

 

Seems more like an observation of the current environment in America than a platform plank but oh well.

 

One of them entails advanced math and physics, necessitated fifty years worth of computing and engineering innovation and facilitated the space program; the other was cooked up to inflate the number of black PhDs: instead of waiting for them to learn how to conduct and write real research, and to get them to stop hijacking the admin building.

 

Race relations are pretty bad on Twitter.

I suppose it is mostly a matter of perspective... I mostly see people using race as the root cause of their personal failings... Which is shows fragility. She is entitled to her opinion and can keep reminding everyone she has a doctorate to some how validate her self worth.

Ultimately she is the flip side of the coin of people like Rush Limbaugh and others.

Most impressive find Rocket River....... It's almost like some people shun and avoid the reality of their privileged existence at all costs. I'm surrounded by not only deniers but down right evil bastards that practice hate on behalf of what they claim to be "God's Will".

I didn't see that message in anything written in the OP, perhaps you could quote a qualifying remark.

 

I have a different idea of who's judgment to which people should never listen. I think I also have a different idea of what having lesser character means.

For instance protesting against the a system proven to be unjust and discriminatory like the one in Ferguson doesn't make someone have lesser character. The few protestors that turned the protest to violence and crime might be lesser in character.

One thing I would definitely feel is a trait of someone with lesser character is a person who generalizes and judges others despite not having faced the injustices and traumas those people have. Especially when those generalizations are based on the actions of a few but applied in mass. That seems like a greater flaw in a persons character

 

I think it's ridiculous for anyone to judge what the author got out of her PHD. Only she would know that, and her professors might also have a pretty good clue.

But nobody here knows how valuable her research was, what she learned about critical thinking, research, studies, their validity etc.

To act like her Phd has no value because you don't happen to like it, is one of the more ignorant things I've seen here on these boards.
