Everyone is looking at KG and thinking of trades to pick him up, but face it.... thats a dream and its not going to happen. I say we go for quiet allstars like bring Rashard Lewis back and look into Shawn Marrion and Odom. You also got to be looking for stars who dont like where they are playing... I mean look how easily the Mavs picked up nick the quick. Trying to get huge Superstars is not the answer for the Rockets!

Is KG unhappy where he is? If so, I've never heard that . All this KG talk ... where did it come from? I know he's taken some flack lately for not shooting enough but .... When is he a free agent?

As far as I'm concerned, we should try to pick up a nice player this offseason, (not a superstar) and go after Duncan with a vengence next year.

If we clear Rice, Walt, and another decent size contract off our books in time for Duncan, it might be possible to get him. Capologists?

Walt is off the books regardless. Someone might take Rices contract cause it's up in 2 years for some picks. Maybe we would get back a heafty 1 year contract.

Actually, this board talks a whole lot about Odom and Lewis. Marion should be talked about more though. He might be the perfect fit for the Rockets.

Nutzchin has a hard time understanding that as bad as Rice is, his contract is up in another year and that may be attractive to a team trying to clear cap space:rolleyes:

We should definantly start thinking about dealing with the suns to get Marion... he would bring suck a defensive presence and maybe wipe some off to francis and cat(if we have both of them after the deal).

I think I can safely say that the KG talk is partly my fault. Someone started a thread suggesting what if TWolves felt they had to start over because they could never win with KG because he wouldn't take the big shot. Response was that KG was untradable. And I took those two together and tried to run with them, showing why it actually might be possible to acquire KG IF TWolves decided they had to start over.

Logic was 1) we could pull the contracts together to get within 85% without trading the big three. 2) moving KG might become very important to TWolves because of luxary tax (even though LT may not happen, would you want to pay it for a team that you knew would be one and done in the playoffs on the high end?) 3) assumption is that he is acquirable due to the whole hypothesis of the thread. 4) moving KG would require bad contracts back because the KG contract is a horrible contract by today's standards. 5) we have a draft pick right now that might be very attractive in such a deal. But Twolves need lots of picks since they have lost theirs due to Smith deal so we would have to give them future picks as well.

Never did I say that I thought we had a reasonable chance in real life for this to happen. And I also did not say I would make the trade. Finally, I also have no doubt that other teams could make a better offer. But, unfortunately, I tried to keep what I thought was the original premise of the thread going for too long and gave the KG talk more legs than it deserved. So I will take the blame and apologize for that one.

One thing I do want to point out about trades though, for all those folks saying other teams would make better offers. It never hurts to ask. Did anyone think we could ever get Steve Francis for what we gave up for him? How about Barkley? Drexler? Someone certainly could have made a better offer for any of those guys. Sometimes, just making the offer gets you talking and things work out far better than you might have ever hoped. Your primary objective may be completely different than the other guys, so you may be able to pull off something you never dreamed possible.

If Minnesota's primary objectives were to a) get under the tax line, b) get younger, c) get some flexibility. while ours are to win a championship at all costs, trading KG might have more legs than anyone could ever dream. Too bad KG isn't a Clipper. We might be able to get him for a bag of balls if he was. :)

I officially promise to everyone on this board that I will not type the words Kevin Garnett on this board for at least one week. So if those discussions you are asking about continue from here, it is not my fault. ;)
