I think a PG who can split time with Bev and has super range is more important than a PF. We can find a defensive PF for cheap once we match Parsons, but we can't find another reliable ball handler with three point range as easily. We need to offer DJ while we have the cap room available now and find a defensive big man later.
Focus right now should be -completing the Asik deal -trying to work out a Ariza S&T before 11pm -matching Parsons All that happens Rockets will retain their MLE and BAE and will have enough to sign a backup PG and C
Nick can play the 2, as can DJ (he played with Cap'n Kirk quite often). Isaiah... I didn't see much from him this season. He may need some more time in the D-league.
Rockets have essentially traded an expiring Lin and a couple worthless picks for 4 years of Ariza Asik and Parsons aren't gone yet. I don't know how that is upsetting
Oh he shot 32% this season. He had range in college, but this is the big leagues. Besides his defense is atrocious. He averages as many turnovers as assists.
His per 36 averages are 18, 6, 2 shooting 41% from the 3pt line and 89% from the FT line... What is your definition of good?
I'd take a veteran PG that can help us maintain the tempo. A leader. Augustin? Meh. Maybe for ultra cheap. But if there's one thing Morey can do it's find good, unknown PG's that can contribute for cheap. Augustin isn't good enough for me to get excited over knowing Morey has options.
Believe we may be better off developing our own guys Canaan and Johnson than paying for a small PG. I believe Nick really has potential and is someone we need to develop this year (both in D-League and big squad). Need to spend that money on a Dwight B/U, who can pay some 4 as well. Jason Smith would be an interesting player to look at.
Maybe. If there's no one else. Outside of this past year in Chicago, he was never good. Plus he's very undersized. Chicago probably was the best destination for him. I can't see McHale putting him in as good of a position to succeed. Pass.
I'm wary of a guy who's been barely an NBA caliber player for several years, and then blows up in a system that seems to revive PGs. Now, if he suddenly turned the corner as a player, I wouldn't be opposed to it, as he can shoot and operate an offense decently enough for a backup, but Augustin at his worst is pretty bad (a small, not explosive guard who's a liability on D and a streaky shooter). In other words, meh.
No, he was still pretty good on the bobcats and bucks. His production went down because he went back into the bench role. We need a instant offense type player off the bench and he fits that role imo. He can create shots for himself and others
