Just curious why Portland is giving this guy the go ahead and not someone like Batum or Aldridge. I feel that Aldridge is the leader of the team. To me lillard is having an awesome rookie season but he's just a chucker. A poor mans Russel Westbrooke.

He made a few game winners sure...but still I don't get it.

are you dumb. the kid is raw, cold blooded, ice in his veins. he be hitting them shots homey. if the guy isn't scared to shoot, and shoots a good shot then why not? he is the only one that can create for himself and others in that team.

I haven't watched many portland games but I sure remember him torching us down the stretch and thinking man this guy is goin to be a legitimate star in this league some day. He's just a stud of a player.

It's not that bad, but I don't think I've ever seen someone misspell Russell Westbrook like that.

Because he's a healthy smaller version of Brandon Roy.

no offense to the OP, but have you seen the kid play?

to me without he is one of the best rookies if not the best this year.

18 points in 31 minutes on 42FG% is damn good for a 22 year old rookie. And he is playing for a playoff contender, not some random scrub team that he has a green light on like John wall or Walker.

Those numbers are comparable to Irving's.

I feel that he is going to be a premier point guard in this league.

This kid is the real deal. Reminds me alot of D-Rose, not cause of his game although they share several similarities but cause of how confident, humble and hard-working they both are.

I'm not sold on Lillard. Doesn't play any defense, turns the ball over a lot and has no court vision. Half of his assists come after bailout passes to Aldridge who takes a contested jumper deep in the shot clock. Clutch player, though.
He's an updated version of Kemba Walker.

He's had some real clutch shots but I've also seen some typical rookie boneheaded moves that hurt the Blazers at the end of other closer games that have hurt them. Either bad shots, bad turnovers or bad defense. People choose to forget about that though. Him and Davis are still frontrunners for ROY though.

Because he can score in a variety of ways and pass well, which is exactly the combination of skills you want in a player taking big shots. Who cares if he's a rookie.

OP, try watching the Blazers a few more times and you will understand. Lilliard is clutch. Just last week he drilled a step-back 3-pointer at MSG with 30 seconds left to harpoon the Knicks that would make your jaw drop.

Thank me later. Hope you don't mind listening to Mike & Mike here.

Another thing: Neither Aldridge nor Batum are leaders. The Blazers need a fearless, clutch, creative perimeter player who can make things happen when the going gets tough. That includes taking the shot sometimes. Lillard is that guy.
