We have Capela for almost a 1/10th of the price Whiteside would command. Is Capela as good? No, but Whiteside would hinder our chances of adding other players at different positions going forward. I'd rather continue to develop Capela as our Center in the future and try and fill the other spots. I think Horford should be the main guy we target. If we can convince him early on, it may increase our attractiveness to other free agents. I also liked Noah, with his leadership and competitiveness being a huge reason, just not sure how he could slide into a PF spot if Capela develops, and having Horford, Capela, and Noah might be too much.
He roided like crazy to get on an nba roster. he was a twig while bouncing between nbadl team, then he suddenly became jacked and signed with the heat. he's a loose cannon and will probably get injured soon.
I think the upside is so large you pretty much have to take a shot at him. How many legit centers in the NBA can shoot 50% on jumpshots? How many can hit 75% of his FTs? What happens when he loses his athleticism? He shoots? How many can also protect the rim at the very least an average rate? and all those who talk about blocks being an overrated stat, I agree for the most part, except when you start to get to the extremes, and a guy who can throw up 10 block games, averages 4 a game, most definitely makes a difference. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves. Sorted by points saved. FG% allowed isn't Gobert level, but it's up there in the middle class of elite centers, contest % is off the charts
As someone who followed him during his time with the Vipers, say no. There's no telling when he'll decide to play hard and when he won't care. He's a head case and will never be worth a decent contract until he shows consistency over a period of years and shows that his old ways are gone. His year and a half of play doesn't mean anything near max to me.
He had some monster games in the playoffs but he also had some games where he didn't show up at all. Concerning.
