Not attacking you in any way .... but Curious if you (or anyone else) could locate audio of Howard saying this .... Or if its only been hearsay from "unknown sources." It is generally accepted that this is the truth , but Ive never heard DH say it , only "sources say" bla bla bla .... You can disregard everything below this point - Im just thinking out loud ..... Also , if Morey does make a deal for him and he decides he doesnt want to be here after next season , he would likely be moved in a sign and trade to recoup some of not all of those assets it took to land him ..... And you have to take into consideration that Morey may refuse to work a S&T .... telling him sign with the Rockets or walk away from a guaranteed thirty million bones. He walks away from two teams , you have to question his marketability as his image takes a serious hit. He hasnt even walked away from us yet and many here wouldnt piss on him if he were ablaze.
The real question we should be asking ourselves is, why hasn't he or his agent denied it? It has been talked about for months now on every level. It has been reported for months by major sports media. So, i know he has heard it. Why no denial?
Were there not rumours about Eric Gordon not wanting to be a Hornet and it was eventually denied that it was all lies and that Gordon was openly aware that the Hornets would match?
Do not want 1. Strong possibility of him leaving in FA 2. Future back problems/injury is worse than being reported 3. Drama queen that's destroyed his current team 4. Can't hit a FT to save his life.Huge Liability in the 4th and is exposed in playoffs. 5. His game has advanced very little since he was in high school/low bball IQ 6. Next season will be dominated by,what will howard do.The entire freakin season ! So by next summer it will be going on THREE year's of this crap ...No Thanks 7. If we pay too much it could take several years to be in as nice of a rebuilding position as we are now.
Even if we do treat it as fact, it is irrelevant. He only wants to go one place. Unfortunately, he can't go there so he's going to have to pick a runner-up eventually. Once Morey gets him here and puts another piece or two around him, it should be an easier choice for him to stay in Houston.
This question about the Howard drama keeps bugging me. 1. Howard said that he would not sign with Orlando next year. So Orlando is trying to trade him. 2. Howard said that he would not sign with Houston next year. And Houston is trying to trade for him. Can someone enlighten me with the above logic?
The Spurs, when they actually WON titles, had one of the greatest players of all time. Pistons with 4 all stars: 1 title Kobe: 5 titles Duncan 4 titles Shaq 4 titles Jordan 6 titles etc. Number of titles won since 1980 by teams with no superstars: 1
If they were able to keep the majority of the pieces they have now around him, this wouldn't be a problem. As it stands, they would have to give up too much.
So you couldnt provide the requested audio (or quote) from him or his agent making that statement ? I just want the facts .... and I dont think any of us know the truth of the matter. For all we know , DH could be screwing over Orlando and saving the team that trades for him "assets" by making that statement ... then staying put rather than going to a team stripped down from making the trade - He wins , his new team wins , Orlando bends over and takes it .... Its obvious he doesnt care at all what happens to the Magic .... the team he goes to on the other hand ....
1. The team wants to get assets for a player they do not have in their long-term plans. It happens all the time. The Rockets just did it with Lowry, the Hawks did it with Joe Johnson, the Bulls with Kyle Korver, etc. 2. Howard has asked Orlando to trade him. He did not actually say that he would not re-sign with Houston next year. He said he would only agree to an extension with one team. That's probably the easiest way to explain it. There are some other superfluous details swirling around that get people a little distracted, but that's pretty much the gist of it.
You don't know that. You are against this trade based on assumption that you do not know to be true. There is no other team actively pursuing him. If the Rockets were to withdraw from the negotiations, the Magic would get pennies on the dollar. At least with the Rockets they can get dimes. Morey put the peices in place that you are currently so enamored with, so have a little faith that he can put the pieces around Howard to make the team successful.
No, I don't know what the price will ultimately end up being, but I am not the one stating it as fact that they will have to give up "too much." I am going to wait to see what the deal ends up being before saying if it's too much or not. Until then, I will operate under the assumption that if the Rockets were willing to give up a king's ransom, a deal would already be done.
Nobody knows. That is the point. But you seem to be convinced that he doesn't want to be here even though that could very well be a lie. And lots of players have "said" they didn't want to be there and changed there minds. A lot can change in the span of a year.
