When I went to College I think the thing that surprised me was that like 75~90% of all international students seemed to be smokers. Significantly more than the avg. Rocket River
If i need to chill or relax this is what I do Spoiler http://cdn5.theweedblog.com/wp-content/uploads/ghost-og-mar1juana-strain-11.jpg
An example from this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence_of_tobacco_consumption China: 60% of men smoke, 4% of women smoke US: 26% to 21% Some other countries have higher avg, some have lower. The 75%-90% number that you have is just a data point.
It seems like they would all look at Lindsay Lohan as a reason to quit. She looks 20 years beyond her real age. She sounds like a smoker when she talks and her face/skin looks like it has been in a smoker for several years.
I imagine there are many reasons, some of which have been mentioned above, it's a social thing, it's a cool thing, it's one thing that people can try ... The difference with other things is smoking, once you try, can keep you hooked.
Thats when you cue the, "let me go to the bathroom first, I'll meet you out there." You never go outside. They wait an extended amount of time and find you at the party later and ask, "where'd you go? I was waiting for you." You reply, "I ran into Jill and you know how she can go on." Laughs ensue. You point to random group behind the persons shoulder, yell hey and start walking that way.
Actually. . . why people CHEW TOBACCO or Snuff is a better question . . that isht is so fricking gross Rocket River
I started as a hookah smoker, it's a very social event. I eventually went down the road of cigarettes, which at first wasnt great, but then I got addicted like no other, easily going through 4 packs a week. I have since quit smoking cigarettes completely, I'll have a cig here and there or if I'm out with the boys and it's a long uneventful night I might go through a few, but I mainly stick with hookah. The stress of the real world can get to you quite easily, and for some, smoking is their coping mechanism. Others use sex, alcohol, drugs, working out, eating, etc. to coincide with the everyday stress of life. Don't judge a book by it's cover my friend. I was totally against smoking my entire life, but now that I've been on the other side of that fence, I completely understand, no judgement placed on them at all.
I see that too. A lot of it has to do with cigarette companies pushing hard on the foreign market because of changing opinions in the states. When I went to college, you'll nearly always see a bunch of students smoking around quad. Now there's hardly anyone. Of course, everyone seems fatter... coincidence?
Or Survivor or Big Brother or Kardashians etc. Blows my mind that intelligent, reflective adults can watch that for more than 30 seconds and not want to hang themselves. As for cigs, meh, who cares. It's banned in most public places nowadays so it's not a big deal for nonsmokers.
I have quit completely, as in I do not buy packs anymore. I do not crave for them, but on occasion when the boys are out smoking and drinking, I'll partake a bit in the smoking department.
quit for good about 10 years ago and now get that wanna puke feeling whenever I get near someone that's been smoking , can smell them from like 100 feet away ..nasty
There are lots of buses moving about freely and at a high rate of speed. You could step in front of one. Why not? http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/Nicotine_manipulation
