Why are the Rockets the only team held to the Golden State standard?

The irony about people saying that is the fact that people like LeBron and Curry have always had an all star teammate score 20+ ppg and both have had at least 2 all star teammates on addition. Yet Harden, who is the ONLY player in the NBA to be top 5 scoring in EVERY season since 2012-2013 yet NEVER have either a 20 ppg teammate or another All star teammate. But they say Harden chokes in the playoffs. NTM Curry scored less than 20 points in 4 games in the 2016 NBA finals despite avg 30 ppg during the regular season and in the playoffs(during his unanimous MVP season) and the series still managed to go 7 games. I wish Harden could score 11 point's in a playoff game and our team win like Curry's team (yes they won an NBA finals game with Curry scoring only 11 points) but Harden scores 10 in game 6 (despite avg 29 ppg for the series) last year against the Spurs without Leonard but get blown out by 39 and he is a choker it's hilarious...

 

talk about respect.. espn match up predictor sure respects us, our win probability with celtics on the road is 54-46, our win probability with cavs on the road is 57-43.. Espn matcup predict predicts rockets have a higher probability to win every match here on out.. no other team can say that..

Then why all the hate? Almost everyone in the NBA world Hates GS because of how stacked they are. All my non rocket friendsfs cant say enough of how sick this team has looked and that maybe we can take out GS. (some spur and OKC fans included)
The media all want the cavs vs warriors finals again i get that....but to stoop to the point of saying adding chris paul(a hall of famer) doesent make us better is pure gold.

 

This. Why wouldn't you want the Rockets compared to the Warriors? We play a similar style of ball and they've won 2 out of the last 3 championships. And oh BTW, the Rockets have been knocked out of the playoffs by Golden State in 2 out of the last 3 seasons. So how we compare to them is quite relevant.

As great as Pop, they couldn't the Warriors in the playoff either.

 

SA has had a history of winning the ring even if their regular season record is not so good. That is not something we can claim .. yet. Before GS got theiir first ring, I remember the media making the same statements. They have to get past SA first to be considered the best.

 

Part of it is that San Antonio and Cleveland have won championships recently. Kawhi is a finals MVP and Lebron is the GOAT. You won't hear people asking that question about Boston because most people doubt whether they can even get past Cleveland.

 

The Golden Standard.

 

The spurs have made the finals 6 times since 1999, they were the #1 seed 5 of those 6 times, they were the #2 seed once and needed half of the Suns suspended in the WCF to even get to the finals, they have never made the finals despite having a non-stellar regular season

 

I think it's Pop. Those memes will never call out Pop and his team even though that Spurs team is pretty sub-par compared with the Spurs of 10 years ago.
The point is not that we are already better than GSW. The point is that the frustration with shitty analysis even after a big win in SLC. Tough love. I think not. Just pure unfounded disrespect. Of course, we will have to earn respect. But imagine, you just aced a difficult test and the other cool kids commented that you are still not as good the best student in the class. That's BS.

 

barkley is a nutjob. He should be automatically excluded from this conversation. But im talking about the writing on NBA.com ESPN, they always bring up, will we be good enough to compete with golden state. They're not sayign that to trash us, they're saying that because we're the only team that can keep up.

Who else in the west other than us comes to mind when you think of a team that can legitimately keep up with golden state? I can't think of one team in the west that wouldn't get demolished.

Everyone acknowledges the Rockets are the only true heavyweight contender to the champion Warriors. That's why they are compared side by side so often.

Meanwhile the bantamweight Thunder are struggling to win a game on the road against jabronis.

 

Being compared to the best is a good thing.....don't forget at the beginning of the season we were being compared to OKC/Minnesota/etc.

Last night Kenny Smith switched from talking Rockets are a good regular season team; but they can’t beat
the Warriors.....to Utah is highly underrated with a better offense (with Donavan Mitchell)
over last years team (with Hayward) with a great defense. They will go deep in the playoffs.

He quickly caught himself and got quite, hoping no one would ask him, “what if Utah faces Houston or GSW’s
in the first round?”

Barkley & Shaq kept harping on Houston’s defense as the reason they will fail. Appears neither is buying into the
Rockets defense this year as being top 5......or my guess is both are clueless to this years Houston defensive
numbers.
