http://www.nba.com/playerfile/hamed_haddadi/index.html this is an interesting guy to take a flyer on... 7'2" defensive specialist. he put up great numbers in international competition as part of the Iranian national team.. he has gotten lost in the shuffle in the basketball abyss of memphis, and hasn't gotten a chance to really prove anything... but his size fills a void off the bench and his blocks to minutes ratio is astronomical... he has 2 years left on his contract ~$1.6M each year and a qualifying offer the 3rd year @ $2M, so it is a very cheap experiment... http://hoopshype.com/salaries/memphis.htm I think he would be a guy that memphis considers expendable after investing in thabeet and seeing gasol as a real prospect at C, perhaps wouldn't take anything more than budinger to get done... thoughts?
Yes to Hadaddi! He is very efficient in the limited minutes he played and he has a lot of potential. Morey wanted him last summer, but he signed with the Grizzlies, maybe because of the Iranian population in Memphis.
Haddadi is big but moves like an iceberg in winter. I'd rather go for Channing Frye, Chris Mihm or Kwame Brown, preferably any two of the three with Shavlik Randolph as a consolation prize.
Too slow. Will just be eaten alive by the likes of Amare and KG. He could not see much playing time with Memphis and expect him to do so with the Rockets? Tall and thats all.
haha nice... may I just add that we have plenty of options against the more athletic 4/5 hybrids in the league with landry, hayes, and dorsey likely to receive legit minutes. haddadi brings size and a basket anchor... the comment that he couldn't see time in memphis really isn't saying much considering the overabundance of young talent and no real direction on their style of play... against good halfcourt teams like san antonio, cleveland or boston you need someone who can clog the paint and I think haddadi could be effective in those situations...
