He turned down the contract extension earlier because it wasn't a near max, and he bet on himself that he could become a franchise cornerstone. He proved himself right, and now the Bulls are willing to give him the money he deserves.

He will be on the phone with Denver completing the trade that was agreed on draft day to send Lawson to Houston.

LerBon James would be a good fit right now. He's even better than Ariza.

Some MLE player, because we don't have anything more to offer.

Jarrett Jack would also help this team a lot.

LMA is the one that is most likely to put us over the top. Nearly identical to the Bosh situation since their games are both very similar.

But obviously that's a complicated idea since Portland knows their legitimacy depends upon them retaining him. We would need LMA and his agent to essentially force the issue. All very unlikely.

The Rockets DON'T have cap space to sign a max UFA. And they can't sign a max RFA because they will be matched. So no Aldridge no Love and no Buttler.

There a great number of pgs who could help this team, kind of mind blogging if you think about it as to why Morey could not have nabbed one after the all star break.

Love would be the best get since he's still young. Love and Harden would be our long term core.

Of all the big name free agents, McHale is closest to Love. It didn't work in recruiting him last year, but it was well documented that we pursued him big time. Let's hope Love is more open to listening this time.

Although the season is certainly not over, and I still have faith, it's difficult to overlook our primary flaws in this years playoffs: PG/Perimeter defense, PF consistency, and bench creativity/scoring. The first 2 holes can be filled with a healthy team, and I think Nick Johnson with an offseason can be enough of a 3 PT threat to be a viable backup.

Let Smith go unless he's willing to sign sign for very little and look to bring in a Dunleavy-esque player off the bench or even Demarre Carrol (doubtful), and resign Brewer. I'd love a Lawson, LMA, etc. but defense and 3 PT shooting are glaring holes IMO.

Free agency isn't really our playground this year. Any RFAs that are actually good, you can mark off this list. With the salary cap rising, teams will be "overpaying" guys now, which will be underpaying in the long term. Even if the player is unhappy, they'll just sign the qualifying offer like Monroe.

I'd guess, if anything, Morey will be looking for a guy like Dunleavy and just trying to resign our own guys. (And work on trades/draft stuff)

I just hope Morey makes a move for a PG or PF or at the very least gets some shooters. This team as currently constructed probably isn't good enough to get back to the WCF

Jarret Jack type PG Bev is backup, A Scorer/Pure Shooter like Dudley or Dunleavy and a PF like Milsap. We don't need a 3rd star. Just keep the core players like Howard Harden Ariza Brewer DMO Capela and Bev. Surround this team with high end role players that can produce and hit their free throws. As for coaching and X and Os assistant coach

    Love or LMA.

Shouldn't bother with restricted free agents.

Need to target Lawson, Martin, and Ryan Anderson in trade.

I agree with your approach, but the Rockets don't have the cap room, or the assets to pull this off. Jarrett Jack may be obtainable.

We're very close to contending. We need someone who can knock down the 3 ball and either score off the dribble or be able to bully their way around in the post. So in essence we need a stretch PF or a scoring PG. I'm sure we could convince LMA to come here, but I doubt Morey blows up the team considering how far we've made it this year. Also wouldn't he have to deal Ariza to get him? I see Morey keeping most of these guys around. The PF group will stay. Bev should too unless he gets overpaid by a desperate team. I bet we go into next season with Bev/Harden/Ariza/D-Mo/Dwight.
