as in... The Cassewell ( named for Sam Cassell & Latrell Spreewell) Annual 'Who's That?' Surprise Rookie of the Year Award? My vote: Brandon Armstrong, G, Pepperdine University (Don't laugh!) Versatile enough to handle some emergency PG duties, don't be surprised if he's the Nets' starting SG by mid-season (especially with Kittles' history of injuries). He's 6'4", athletic and quick as a flash, lefty, with range and little conscience (sound familiar?). Thoughts?
the list of rooks --for me at least-- would be: 1. jason richardson-he will surprise a lot of people by pushing houghs to the bench 2. eddie grififn-he won't start this year, but will get starters minutes by playing every front court position. PT=production=ROY? maybe. 3. jason collins-less talented than the other 2 by far, infact he is less talented than 15 rooks chosen a head of him. however, he may get a lot of PT in NJ (see above equation).
I think Radmanovic is going to really impress a lot of people. I don't know if he really qualifies for the "Who the hell is this guy?" award since he was drafted 12th...but that is who I vote for.
I nominate all the Boston 1st round picks. They looked verrry athletic in the summer leagues, even the guy they drafted from the Junior College.
Jeryl Sasser -- he will have a surprise rookie year and will become a fan favorite if he sports the 'fro and big band-aid look.
