Most valuable player is a poor label for the award. They should call it the most outstanding player, college style. I'm sure that both of our candidates are going to be negatively impacted by the presence of the other star. That doesn't mean they aren't potentially worthy of the award on their own merits.
The Pelicans are going to finish 5th in the division and out of the playoff race. Houston GSW Portland San Antonio Memphis Dallas Clippers No particular order 1-7 Suns, Kings, OKC, Pelicans battling for last spot. Pelicans are arguably the third best team in that group. No MVP this year.
Harden. I think its finally his time. KD is out the beginning of the season, while LBJ is working on cav chemistry. I think it boils down to Curry & Harden.
Our lack of front court depth is skewing people towards Howard. Howard is more important to THIS team because without him we are naked in the front court. Black? DMo? Dorsey? Ugh. Whereas without Harden you have an abundance of people who can play the two in Terry, Daniels, Papa, or the PGs. Depth isn't as much of an issue in the backcourt as it is up front. Who's more important to the team? Howard. Who do other GM's value more as the overall better player? Probably the one they voted as best at his position in the league. I will say this... it is a legitimate question and it is close.
tough choice. couldnt pick one so i decided not to vote. i hope one of them wins it tho. if dwight does win it, i know for sure harden is gonna want to win one too
I finally had to go with Howard because he would be more difficult to replace with our current roster.
I think its kind of like the Texan situation. Watt is the best player without a doubt but Foster has been the most valuable player on that team. Same here, at least right now. Harden is our best player, but Howard is going to be our most valuable player especially with our thin big man rotation.
If harden keeps giving us 27pts & 10 assist he'll be top 2 for MVP. But I feel MVP has become a popularity contest as well as the nba's tendency to suck lebrons balls
Probably Harden. He has the narrative since he improved on a part of his game (defense) for which he was criticized but Dwight will be in the mix
Right now neither of them should be MVP candidates, but that hardly matters. As long as our team is winning wtf cares about MVP awards? That award is garbage anyway, and hardly indicative of who the best player really is because it doesn't account for postseason play.
